Commercial Description:
Chef Floyd Cardoz and brewmaster Garrett Oliver have combined their inspirations to bring you Brooklyn Cuvée de Cardoz. This golden wheat beer starts with a base of malted barley and unmalted wheat and then builds upon it a delicate balance of exotic spices selected by Chef Cardoz and then toasted and ground in the kitchens at Tabla. Ginger, tamarind, mace, black pepper, coriander, fennel, fenugreek, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and chilies are added in the kettle, and then the beer is infused with toasted coconut after the fermentation. Combined with our yeast and light hopping, these spices give the beer a gentle, complex perfume, a full fruity palate, and long, drying finish with a very faint prickle of heat.

Draft. Pours a hazy golden color. Intense aroma of yeast, clove, coriander, banana, cinnamon, and sweet malt. Nice flavor with a light hoppiness in the finish. The 8.5% hides itself pretty well.

Poured gold. Nose is a spice cabinet mixed with belgian yeast spices and sweet malt. Flavor is loads of spice, hints of heat, cinnamon, banana, cloves. Too many spices. Not my bag.

Wow. I thought this would be a bad combo but it really works. The spices balance out so you don’t get a huge hit of any and it plays well with the base beer.

Sampled at DØE Beerfestival 2009, Valby. Poured and presented by Mr. Garrett Oliver himself. Pours a clear yellow beer with a white head. Very good appearance. The aroma is spices, sweetness and coconut. The flavor is complex and balanced. The palate is nice spiced and has a slight hint of chili. Overall a very good beer.

I was not a big fan of this beer, the spice, hell maybe the temperature it was served , all did not have a harmony, it was cluttered with flavor

Snifter @ Tyler’s Apex. Good aroma, sweet, spice. Wheat, ton of spice, coriander cinnamon. Orangy gold color, good head, faded to a ring, spotty lace. Spiced yeasty flavor, like aroma, maybe more of the yeast than wheat. Has a sharp bite about it. Lite body, creamy mouthfeel, dry finish. Maybe it was my mood, but this hit the spot, a lot going on with this one.

[2418-20090802] Tap. Rich wheat grain malt aroma is lightly toasted. Clear, orange amber body with quick white bubbles. More grainy cracked wheat malt flavour has a slightly fruity strawberry aftertaste. Medium body. Very drinkable, nice smooth balance throughout.

Pours clear golden, semi-thick white microscopic bubbled head. Yeast and spicy nose...the cinamon and coriander stand out most...as does the belgian yeast banana-like esters. Yeasty and spicey flavors, but more yeast than spicey..loads of banana, cinamon, clove...medium body, firm carbonation..chalky in the mouth in the finish...chalky banana-type shit....a bit hot in the finish as well. Warming. Another yeast spice bomb, meh’
