Commercial Description:
Chef Floyd Cardoz and brewmaster Garrett Oliver have combined their inspirations to bring you Brooklyn Cuvée de Cardoz. This golden wheat beer starts with a base of malted barley and unmalted wheat and then builds upon it a delicate balance of exotic spices selected by Chef Cardoz and then toasted and ground in the kitchens at Tabla. Ginger, tamarind, mace, black pepper, coriander, fennel, fenugreek, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and chilies are added in the kettle, and then the beer is infused with toasted coconut after the fermentation. Combined with our yeast and light hopping, these spices give the beer a gentle, complex perfume, a full fruity palate, and long, drying finish with a very faint prickle of heat.

(draft @ The Tap & Mallet - Rochester, NY) Hazy gold pour with a thick white head. Aroma is sweet and spicy with some hints of vanilla, yeast, and citrus. Flavor is much the same. Sweetness at the beginning blends well with some spicy and slightly funky notes. Finishes clean and sweet with a very lingering hint of yeast and spice.

Draft at Coles in Buffalo NY. Pours golden yellow with a thin white head. Fruity and spicy aroma, with notes of vanilla and coconut. A bit busy flavor wise. I can pick out clove, anise, vanilla, ginger, and some lingering fruity notes. Pretty enjoyable.

Growler courtesy of dkachur from Beer Run on 08/01/2009. Clear golden body with a medium frothy off-white head. Big spicy aroma with some floral notes. Big spicy flavor, some candi sugar, and a bit of floral notes. Light body with moderately high carbonation.

Given the description, I should have known what I was getting into. Admittedly, it was much better as a whole than the frightening parts. Big and spicy. Some bubblegum and citrus... some pepper. Sort of like a tripel gone wild. Not so sure about this one.

Growler from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a very slightly hazy lemon yellow color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of bubblegum, coconut and eggnog. Taste is citrus, ginger, coriander, lots of other spices. The heat from the chilies grows as you drink the beer. Medium bodied. Good beer.

Sampled at The Busy Bee Cafe, Raleigh, NC. Abounding smell and flavour: sour apples, curry, licorice, , toasted coconut, elderflowers, spice, corn, watermelon, tamarind. Crazy yet gentle.

Draft at Beer Bistro in Chicago. I was told this was the beer I had and based on what I am reading re: the othe ratings, it makes sense. Pours a clear gold with a fluffy head. Nose is richly spicy and Belgian, quite estery. Mild anise and cloves, a touch of citrus, though the pepper notes are lost on me. Lots of candy and sweet notes as well. Beefed up White ale... Okay.
