Commercial Description:
Chef Floyd Cardoz and brewmaster Garrett Oliver have combined their inspirations to bring you Brooklyn Cuvée de Cardoz. This golden wheat beer starts with a base of malted barley and unmalted wheat and then builds upon it a delicate balance of exotic spices selected by Chef Cardoz and then toasted and ground in the kitchens at Tabla. Ginger, tamarind, mace, black pepper, coriander, fennel, fenugreek, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and chilies are added in the kettle, and then the beer is infused with toasted coconut after the fermentation. Combined with our yeast and light hopping, these spices give the beer a gentle, complex perfume, a full fruity palate, and long, drying finish with a very faint prickle of heat.

Draught at Tyler’s Taproom in Apex, NC. Pours golden, medium white head. Aroma is yeast, a lot of spice, but so complex, that it is hard to identify flavors. Flavor is similar, a nice bit of alcohol in aftertaste, subtle coconut (which is actually much better than I thought it would be), and very spicy, I can at least now identify some peper, cinnamon, coriander, and perhaps some clove. Nice beer.

Light, very wheat-malty flavor that is sweet with a bit of spice (cloves?) and vanilla. Actually a bit non-integrated but fresh and tasty enough.

Draft at Max’s, Baltimore. Certainly one of the odder concoctions Brooklyn has come up with. Spiced out, herbal aroma. The taste is similar, full of pepper, clove, and all sorts of herbal goodness(?). Pale golden yellow color, thin head. Maybe a hint of Candi sugar in there. Very sweet, slightly medicinal. Overbearing alcohol, lacks subtlety.

Tap @ Trappeze Pub, GA. pours hazy golden, white head. aroma is yeasty, grainy with a nice clove aroma and notes of citrus hops. taste, sweet almost honey, clove, yeasty with a lot of spices, especially the nutmeg and coriander creating a mesh of flavors on the palate. Pepper seems to come through toward the end as well as some citrus elements.

Sampled on draft at the Rivertowne Pub this beer poured a bright golden color with a medium sized white head that faded quickly. The aroma was tart, tangy, yeasty and spicy. The flavor was dry, tart and spicy - mostly pepper, clove and ginger with a touch of banana following. There was a sugary middle and a yeasty undertone. The finish was long and dry with pepper and clove dominating. Medium body. Interesting.

Tap. Slightly cloudy gold color with a sustaining fizzy white head. Carbonated like champagne, this beer has notes of pear, apple cider, white wine. Very dry finish. Despite its light texture, this is a sipper.

Draft at DRE. Pours turbid gold toward dark straw with off-white head. Nose is hopcitrus, spicy yeast, sour mashy fruit. Tastes spicy, hoppy and peppery, with some yeasty, rock sugary malty, and floral notes. A bit of a tripel, BDG, and witbier mishmash, I enjoyed this from start to finish, but purists will shit a brick over it.
