Slightly sour and lactic. Sourish-malty, mildly roasty and ashy, licoricey flavor with a vaguely bitter finish. Light to medium-bodied, slightly sticky palate with quite low carbonation. A tasty and balanced, although maybe a bit thin dry stout. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

Pours a nice dark black with amber highlights and a nice creamy head that fades slightly. Aroma is slightly roasty, some chocolate malts, distictive hop aromas as well as slight yeasty light fruity notes. Flavor is a light dry roasted barley, light coffee, chocolate light caramel and finishes nice and dry with a light mouthfeel and aftertaste. Dogbrick (2864), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 8, 2006 On draught at Winking Lizard in Columbus. Pours flat black with a medium and foamy beige head that disappears pretty fast. Thin sheets of lacing. Aroma of malt, coffee and some chocolate. Fairly rich mouthfeel and nicely creamy, with coffee, bittersweet chocolate and hops flavor. A bit of roasted malt in the background as well. The finish is smooth and creamy and has a lingering coffee bitterness. Examples like this or GLBC Wolfhound remind me that this style doesn’t have to be boring. Well done. Bubbly head. Nose is roasted, velvet, with chocolate. Taste is dominated by chocolate with a bitter-sweet finish. Lots of taste, smooth as velvet, but a bit thin body. Nice taste though. notalush (2676), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2003 Probably the finest American-made dry stout I've had. Tastes very similar to Guinness, but without the bitterness. Slight chocolate undertones with a nice, dry finish. jgb9348 (2511), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2003 Dark in colour, but not completely opaque. Definate malty aroma throughout. Good taste, slightly hoppy, but definately malty!! A good overall beer, not overwhelming like a normal Stout, but clean enough to drink a couple of!
