Grapefruity hop aroma with some malt. Crisp citrus hop flavor with a nice malt balance. Used to be one of my absolute favorite IPAs. I have found some better ones over the last two years, but this one is still solid overall. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 8, 2009 Updated: May 6, 200912 oz bottle. Pours a nice deep golden amber with a white head which lasts all 12 oz. Nice sweet malty taste, and a milder hoppy taste than most other IPAs I’ve had. Nice balance of hops and malty sweetness. Caramel notes with a hoppy bitter finish. Better than the current 79%-tile. Ughsmash (4077), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Bottled. Poured clear ambery-golden with a short cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up spicy floral and orange notes over a semi-sweet caramel base.. warm overall with a touch of candied sweetness on the back. The flavor found sweeter caramel at the core with orange, clove, and floral bitterness around.. alcohol and sweetness clashed some on the finish that also carried through grainy, bitter remnants. Medium-bodied and increasingly bitter on the palate as it went along.. OK balance, but too sweet.
