Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Bottle. Pours a dark golden colour with a white head. The aroma and the flavour both gives proof of an average IPA - notes of citrus fruits, hops, some fruity notes and malty caramel.

The beer was quite enjoyable...my initial impression was that the beer was heavy on bittering hops, but less on aroma or flavor hops. As the beer warms some of the bitterness mellows out to allow the english malts to come through nicely. There are some piney notes from the hops, and not a particularly noticeable yeast character. I think this is a nice solid IPA but not one of my favorites as IPA’s go. A good beer but not for a session

Bottle at Bishops Arms, Järntorget, Gothenburg. Deep amber color with a shrinking small white head. Aroma and taste of spicy hops, cookie malt sweetness, citrus and caramel.

Bottle poured into a pint glass. Hoppy, bitter flavor that went well with the salmon we cooked up that night. Less aftertaste than other EIPA’s I’ve had. Very nice overall.

This beer pours a deep amber with a tiny, yet noticeable white head. The aroma is very floral with a hint of pine, citrus, and spice. The flavor is malty with a mellow bitter taste, but it finishes somewhat clean. Not perfect, but still very good. A mellow IPA.

Draught at The Cellar, Blacksburg VA, #390   Dark gold pour with decent head and great lacing. Citrus hop aroma and flavor. Good IPA, but pretty light. Can definitely have a few of these at Hammer Time at the Cellar!

Draught. Pours dark gold, with a thin, creamy white head. Aroma is sweet caramel and citrus, not too bold. Taste is sweet biscuity malt up front, with a bit of caramel sweetness, with a nice citrusy, somewhat piney hop bitterness emerging about halfway in. Hoppiness is rounded, not overly bright - excellent balance. Mouthfeel is crisp carbonation, with a nice dry finish. Great sessionable version of the style.
