Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

bottle - Pours copper with a one finger white head and a citrus hop aroma. The flavor is of course led by the hops, which are moderately bitter here, but not as crisp as I’d like. The medium bodied brew finishes with some decent bitterness. Average.

12oz. bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber color with a light, white head that dissipates quickly. Heavy aromas of hops, citrus fruit, and some hints of malt. Flavor is of bitter hops, caramel, and some citrus with a sour finish. Mouthfeel is light and smooth. Not bad, but nothing to yell about.

Bitter hops, but lacking ultimate bite. Kind of subdued. Malts here and there but nothing noticable. Adds a tender sweetness to it. Kind of softens it out though. If this brew was going to East India, it might barely make it on the ship ride over.

IPA poured from bottle was a light copper color with a white head. Aroma of citrus hops. Taste is very bitter and hoppy. Malt backing doesn’t quite stand up and makes for a lack of balance. The mouthfeel is also a little thin. Overall, a decent IPA, but not the greatest.

Pours copper with a good sized head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is mostly citrus hops and some malt sweetness. Mouth feel is medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Flavor is a good mix of sweet malt and bitter hops with a touch of alcohol. This went very well with BBQ brisket.

Draft. A pretty decent IPA and comparable to all the rest. Not too much bitterness.

Looks pretty nice with a copper body a thick white head. Powerful flowery hop aroma... pine is there most definitely. This is an easy to drink beer that has some bitterness, but not too much. Flowery hops are there right on the top. It is different from your standard IPA as many people have said, and in some ways I might prefer this more subdued style (i.e. not hopmurder).

Pours a golden brown with a half inch frothy head. Aromas of citrus and pine. Crisp, spicy, hop influenced flavor but the alcohol tends to linger. A little sweet and not overly bitter. A good brew, and if you like IPA’s you should def give it a go.
