Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Piny and floral hop aroma. Orange color with no head. Taste starts mild and finishes with moderate hop bitterness.

Bottle...crisp, well-hopped, velvety IPA. Apple notes prevail. A little tastier than the mainstream IPA’s but not as brutal as the double IPA varieties. A "hoppy medium," to be exact. I like all the Brokklyn products and this one is no exception.

Bottle from Total Wine in Huntersville NC. This beer struck all the usual cords when drinking an IPA. I was rather satisfied with this beer and would drink this beer again in the future. Nothing makes this beer stand out among other IPAs, but it is a nice one to enjoy on a summer day.

Bottle sampled. Pours amber/golden with a small off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, spices, and sweet malts. The flavor is citrus, floral, sweet, with a moderate bitter finish.

this beer has a very nice hop tingle on the tongue. it has a greater malt base than grapefruit hop taste. it is bitter and this bitter tang lasts. that was welcome. a woody bitter tang with the grapefruit flavor a bit in the back. good carbonation. as you drink many pale ales you will like this one more.

Rated 8/4/06: Nicely balanced and somewhat mild for an IPA I like it and it really seems to work well. Aroma is a nice mellow floral hop scent, slightly bitter. Poured a nice light to medium copper with good lacing and a thin creamy head. The carbonation is amazingly strong. Good crisp feel with a smoothness that finishes clean and a little bitter. Flavor is malty with complimenting hops. The mild balance is a great change of pace from most IPA’s. A slightly different take on a popular style, I really like this one good if you want to enjoy a few.

Clear golden color, short head. Aroma is bit floral, hoppy, pilsner malt. Clean bitter taste, bit crisp. Nothing spectacular.

Nice cloudy golden. Sweet hoppy aroma. Taste not as hoppy as the smell. Doughy, bitter taste. Pretty average. Nothing distinguishing about it. Mild.
