Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Overall Impression: A nice citrus hoped English style IPA, this is a pretty decent example of the style, not spectacular, but certainly drinkable.

12oz bottle pours golden orange to a one inch head with nice lacing that actually disappeared off the glass rather quickly..this is definitely a English style IPA, hops are much less present than your American style hop rockets that I’m used too..aroma’s of light hops, perfume and citrus..taste of the same, not enough hops present for my IPA acquired taste, this could be a nice Pale Ale with a little less alcohol which comes through a little strong or unhidden..Overall I do feel it’s still quite enjoyable, especially if your into more of a English, Belgium style taste. Although it might be more true to the original IPA style, for me it doesn’t quite stack up to the great IPA’s I’ve been tasting in the states...

Bottle. Golden amber. Humlig, floury. Metallic bitterness. More metallic than bitter. One dimensional beer without finesse.

Poured amber with a small head, nice lace. Nose of citrus, pine, and malty, very mild however. Taste is slightly hoppy and bitter, very subtle, if any sweet notes. A bit unimpressed with the flavors, expected more hops per description, but definitely a session beer.

Bottle: Ramenen provided this sample for Father´s Day dinner. Third beer I try from Brooklyn not really imporessed, this IPA had too much malt and sweetness countering the hops. Not the best IPA I´ve had (especially after drinking the 60 minute IPA).

Drank it last nite for father’s day. It is a very solid IPA, a good session beer. It has a very piney flavor, very different from the other IPAs we tasted. Overall good.

330ml Bottle (Villi Waino, Helsinki) - Gold/amber in colout. Enticing aroma with grapefruit, tea and a hint of peaches in syrup. Hoppy and slightly sweet taste, with grapefruit, tea and a sweet, bitter and hoppy finish.
