Commercial Description:
Brooklyn East India Pale Ale, originally a summer seasonal, has been getting raves since becoming a year round offering in 1996. Garrett Oliver, a student of English brewing and beer history, uses English malts and hops to brew his EIPA in the classic, heavily-hopped style of the 19th century beers created for British soldiers serving in India.

Montreal beer fest, 2006. This was one of my favorites this year, and almost all of the hoppy ones were exelent. Lovley pale copper color, perfectly clear, thin fizz, but it wasn’t the first pour on that bottle, so who knows. Aroma is tangy, piney and very bitter. Taste is prodominantly smooth bitterness, with a little cedar and a touch of nutty malt, but mostley bitter. Aftertaste is tangy, bitter and finishes with a slightly sweet orange zest touch. Mouthfeel was silky, with a dry end. Great beer. Cheers

Poured amber with slight carbonation and a head to did stick around for a little while. Decent hop aroma with notes of herb and citrus. On mouth this is a lighter medium bodied IPA with noticeable hops on the sides of the tongue. The finish is quick and short lived.

Not a very strong offering from Brooklyn the aftertaste is very bitter and it is not a very good blend of the malts can still taste a very alcohol flavor to this beer and did not enjoy it very much

Clear, coppery pour, nice white head. Nose is hops and caramel. Flavor is caramel malt, citrusy hops. Nice bitter hop finish. Refreshing and balanced.

Hazy orange. Perfumed aroma - dusty hop. The flavour is metallic sweet, full of oranges, grape and other citric nuances.

A: Golden amber in color with a quick fading head. S: Citrus with a hint of cut grass, pretty nice but not overpowering. T: Starts off with a nice sweetness until the bitterness of the hops kick in. Leave a little bitterness on the tongue which quickly fades. M: Light and bubbly

Pours out a nice golden color. Aroma is a noticeable hop character with floral and citrus notes, vibrant but not over powering. Body is medium-light with a comfortable but not particularly powerful hop bitterness. Finish fades quickly though a slight bitterness does remain for a time. Enjoyable but a little light.

Grabbed this in a mix case over the weekend. After having some of the other Brooklyn favorites, I had high hopes. Minimal aroma for an IPA - some citrus notes, but that’s about it. Orange in color with a clear body and minimal white foam head. Medium bitterness, almost lightly sour ... almost a forced IPA flavor. Medium body, average carbonation and a bitter finish ... gave me second thoughts about buying this one again.

Pours a clear caramel orange with an off white head. Aroma is citrusy, hop oils, fruity toffee, toast. Taste is malty, toffee, caramel, with a citrusy grassy hop bitterness.
