Commercial Description:
Brewed broadly in the Belgian saison (or sezoens) farmhouse ale style, Brooklyn Flemish Gold is a dry, hoppy, spicy beer with a distinctive American twist. Flemish Gold is brewed from German pilsener malt and brewer’s sugar, bittered with German Perle hops, aromatized in the kettle with Czech Saaz hops, and fermented to flinty dryness by a Belgian ale yeast. Then we dry-hop the beer with Glacier (a relatively new hop in the Fuggle family) from the Pacific Northwest. Served unfiltered, Flemish Gold has a bright, fresh hop aroma, an orangey spiciness from our special top-fermenting yeast, a racy, refreshing palate, and a snappy finish.

A very light farmhouse style ale, less sour than the style usually exhibits. It had a friendly familiarity to Hoegaarden. Very nice beer. I wouldn’t be surprised if they decided to offer this year round

Draft at BGH. Straw yellow with a creamy head. Aroma is sweet grains and vanilla. Taste is rich with cereal and mint/basil with a nice crisp finish. Very good.

Tap at Barcade: Pours a nice hazy light golden with a dense white, well retained head. The aroma has a nice wheaty crispness and a solid coriander presence. Nice. Fluffy texture on the palate. Goes down smooth. Fairly light bodied with a mild flavor. Some wheat crispness provides a refreshing body followed by a touch of coriander and lavender. A light bitterness dries out the finish. A pretty solid offering.

On tap at The Local Option. Funky grain wheat, banana, lemon, and yeasty nose. Pours a hazed yellow with a white frothy head. Lightly tart grain flavors. Finish of floral hops with lots of prickly carbonation. Too much banana and wheat creamy notes.

Draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville. Pours a milky pale yellow with great white head. Aroma is sweet lemon citrus with a hint of farm funk. Flavor is tart and definitely flemish in nature. Kinda reminded me of a hefewiezen. Cloying carbonated finish. Interesting and drinkable but not great.

Draft @ Capones. Golden color with a sweet, spiced, yeasty aroma. Flavor is a bit yeasty and sweet with a dry, citrusy finish. Not bad, but average for a saison.

draft at redlight redlight. Very spicy nose, herbal, mint, sage, hints of rosemary, with coriander and grains of paradise all mixed with sweet sugary malts. Pours cloudy gold with a very thick fluffy white head. Very smooth, spicy, clove, corriander, hints of black pepper maybe even cinnamon and nutmeg, with crisp hops, and just a hint of funky yeast lurking in there somewhere. Very good beer and an excellent saison.

On draft at Capones. Pours a hazy gold with a frosty white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of peppery spice, sweetness and hops. Taste of light sweet, yet soury peppery hops. Quite different, yet very enjoyable.
