Commercial Description:
Brewed broadly in the Belgian saison (or sezoens) farmhouse ale style, Brooklyn Flemish Gold is a dry, hoppy, spicy beer with a distinctive American twist. Flemish Gold is brewed from German pilsener malt and brewer’s sugar, bittered with German Perle hops, aromatized in the kettle with Czech Saaz hops, and fermented to flinty dryness by a Belgian ale yeast. Then we dry-hop the beer with Glacier (a relatively new hop in the Fuggle family) from the Pacific Northwest. Served unfiltered, Flemish Gold has a bright, fresh hop aroma, an orangey spiciness from our special top-fermenting yeast, a racy, refreshing palate, and a snappy finish.

Probably my favorite of all the Brewmaster Resurve beers that Brooklyn put out in 2008. This beer quite reminds me of the Brooklyn-Schneider Hopfen-Weiss, straw like body, a slight hint of wild yeast, a beautiful bouquet of hops, like fresh hop cones ground up in your hands. All aspects of this beer play very well together. = Refreshing, Complex, Enjoyable & Delicious.

On draft at Tylers. Pleasant bright hazy golden pour with foamy white head and nice retention. A bit spicier and more dry than most American takes on a saison... white pepper in addition to citrus, curacao, clove, and some banana. Crisp, very dry finish. Tasted a little boozier than 6.5% (the menu said 8.5%). Very nice.

At Rustico in Alexandria, VA. Pours a nice, clear golden color with a thin lacing head. Sweet, tangy aroma with some spice. Grassy flavor with some spicy malt. Somewhat mild with a dry finish. Not too bad.

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a slightly hazy lemon yellow color with a medium frothy head, good head retention and excellent lacing. Hoppy citrus aroma with some caramel notes. Taste is citrus hops, caramel and peppery spice. Very smooth with very soft carbonation. Medium bodied.

Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Cloudy golden, minimal head.Piney yeasty aroma. Sweetish and medium bodied with fairly clean mouthfeel. Some banana, honey and soap. Spicy and gingerish underneath the clean, slender rounded malt. Low bitterness.

On tap, Barley’s, Asheville. Pours gold, as one might expect. Nice mish mash of aromas - white wine, herb, grains - and a similiar mix of flavors. The Bride thought she picked up Thyme, and I got white wine and some woody notes. Nice and tasty.

Poured a hazed gold-yellow color with a small white head. Spicy aroma with a light toasted malt character. Pepper and clove notes that carry over, although milder, to the flavor. Light short malt taste with a long spiced dry finish. Light-medium body that almost has a refreshing quality.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a hazy dark golden color with a medium sized yellow-white head. The aroma was lightly sweet, tangy, spicy and peppery. The flavor was dryish tart and bitter with notes of citrus and pepper and a touch of cardboard underneath. The finish was lightly musty.
