Commercial Description:
Brewed broadly in the Belgian saison (or sezoens) farmhouse ale style, Brooklyn Flemish Gold is a dry, hoppy, spicy beer with a distinctive American twist. Flemish Gold is brewed from German pilsener malt and brewer’s sugar, bittered with German Perle hops, aromatized in the kettle with Czech Saaz hops, and fermented to flinty dryness by a Belgian ale yeast. Then we dry-hop the beer with Glacier (a relatively new hop in the Fuggle family) from the Pacific Northwest. Served unfiltered, Flemish Gold has a bright, fresh hop aroma, an orangey spiciness from our special top-fermenting yeast, a racy, refreshing palate, and a snappy finish.

Draft....my first beer at the new and improved Redlight Redlight. Pours a cloudy golden-tangerine color with a small, foamy, snow-white head. Fantastic, intricate lacing coats the entire glass with maze-like patterns. The aroma shows wheat and other cereal grains glazed with a touch of honey, followed by light coriander, orange peel, and a healthy dose of floral hops. Flavors follow suit, with more sugar glazed grains, spicy hints of clove and orange peel, and a touch of cracked pepper. Dry, floral yeast notes are present throughout. The palate is medium-bodied, with balanced carbonation and a semi-dry finish. Nothing special here, but it is better than I expected. Nice brew.

Draft @ Redlight. Yellow-gold, opaque, big creamy white head. Strong phenolic clove aroma with a wheaty note. Cleaner flavor with a spicy kick at the end. Light finish.

tap at monks- pours hazy golden, with a large white head. nose is spice, and bubblegum. lots of bubblegum, and fall spices. good amount of bread there too. everything that is promised in the nose comes through in the palate with a lingering hop finish. pretty good stuff.

750 ml growler filled at Dave’s Bellport Beer and Cold Soda. Pours a hazy gold with a moderate white head that lasted through the first third of the glass and left some patchy lace. Nice bright aroma of lemons, oranges and apples along with a bit of black pepper and some yeast. The flavor steps back just a bit from the aroma with the fruit flavors less intense while the yeast is more of a presence, especially in the aftertaste. Some sugary sweetness in the flavor as well. The finish is a tad oily and a bit heavy for a saison.

From draught sample at Capone’s. Hot dog spices in the nose, with coriander and orange peel and some light yeasty character. Very nice and calming. Light hazy golden amber with thin lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation - smooth. Nice and spicy with coriander and orange peel, maybe some peppercorn. Dry bitter acidity and chalky hops. Bitter in finish. Yeasty dry with right amount of pilsner malt flavor in the after. Like a dry tripel or aggressive wit.

(Draught) Pours a hazy pale yellow body with a tall off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, apple, clove, light barnyard, herb garden, and ginger. Flavor of candi sugar, Belgian yeast, hops (floral, light citrus), subtle nuttiness, grass, and clove with a dry finish.

On tap at Capones. Pours a translucent golden with a medium creamy white head that laced. Aroma was very floral, fruity, orange and other citrus, hoppy, bready and Belgian esters. Flavor was bready, Belgian spicy notes, hops, grassy, mixed citrus, floral. Reminded me of Houblon Chouffe and some of the other really hoppy Belgians...I liked it! Nice and dry but not sure I would call this a Saison.

Port 82!!! On tap at Capone’s. Poured a medium and hazy yellow color with a larger sized, frothy (looked like a head of a Latte) white head. Aromas of fruitiness, some citrus rinds, and lighter spices. Tastes of the same fruitiness, light spices (peppers and others), and lemons. Lacing left on the glass.
