Commercial Description:
Brewed broadly in the Belgian saison (or sezoens) farmhouse ale style, Brooklyn Flemish Gold is a dry, hoppy, spicy beer with a distinctive American twist. Flemish Gold is brewed from German pilsener malt and brewer’s sugar, bittered with German Perle hops, aromatized in the kettle with Czech Saaz hops, and fermented to flinty dryness by a Belgian ale yeast. Then we dry-hop the beer with Glacier (a relatively new hop in the Fuggle family) from the Pacific Northwest. Served unfiltered, Flemish Gold has a bright, fresh hop aroma, an orangey spiciness from our special top-fermenting yeast, a racy, refreshing palate, and a snappy finish.

Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Cloudy golden, minimal head.Piney yeasty aroma. Sweetish and medium bodied with fairly clean mouthfeel. Some banana, honey and soap. Spicy and gingerish underneath the clean, slender rounded malt. Low bitterness.

Draught, Cock & Bull

Fairly dull light bronze colour. Appley, spicy aroma with light bubblegum and floral character. Sweet and fruity (pear, peach, light apple, cherry). Some minty notes. Sweetish finish. I can’t figure out what they’re getting at with this one.

Port 82!!! On tap at Capone’s. Poured a medium and hazy yellow color with a larger sized, frothy (looked like a head of a Latte) white head. Aromas of fruitiness, some citrus rinds, and lighter spices. Tastes of the same fruitiness, light spices (peppers and others), and lemons. Lacing left on the glass.

(Draught) Pours a hazy pale yellow body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pineapple, apple, clove, and ginger. Flavor of candi sugar, Belgian yeast, hops (floral, light citrus), and clove with a dry finish.

Draft… Hazy, light golden ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Very good retention. The nose is chock full of clove and smoke phenols… man, I hate clove. Light to medium-bodied and very fizzy. Crisp, fairly nondescript flavor… lightly spicy and light fruity. Bone-dry finish. These phenolic Belgian brews are so not my thing.

Growler from Bierkraft. Very, very pale golden beer with a nice thick rocky head. Aroma is lightly citric and spicy with a soft flinty minerally character. Soft spiciness and the beginning of a light zesty bony (is that a flavour?) dryness. It comes across like a beer with the beginning of brett character going on in it. Lemony citrusy flavour with a nice herbal hop flavour on the back. Man, this is another really nice seasonal form these guys. The malts are distinct, but so dry that they are hard to describe. Fresh pilsner malt flavour with just a mix of wheaty tartness, herbal hoppiness and a spicy/citrusy dry yeastiness. This might be the first beer in awhile where I’ll go back to get another growler.

Poured a hazed gold-yellow color with a small white head. Spicy aroma with a light toasted malt character. Pepper and clove notes that carry over, although milder, to the flavor. Light short malt taste with a long spiced dry finish. Light-medium body that almost has a refreshing quality.
