Commercial Description:
Brewed broadly in the Belgian saison (or sezoens) farmhouse ale style, Brooklyn Flemish Gold is a dry, hoppy, spicy beer with a distinctive American twist. Flemish Gold is brewed from German pilsener malt and brewer’s sugar, bittered with German Perle hops, aromatized in the kettle with Czech Saaz hops, and fermented to flinty dryness by a Belgian ale yeast. Then we dry-hop the beer with Glacier (a relatively new hop in the Fuggle family) from the Pacific Northwest. Served unfiltered, Flemish Gold has a bright, fresh hop aroma, an orangey spiciness from our special top-fermenting yeast, a racy, refreshing palate, and a snappy finish.

Clean, new mown hay aroma. Not very heavy on the spice, in fact, one of the lightest examples of the style i have had, but it is superbly executed and well balanced.

Draft at BGH. Straw yellow with a creamy head. Aroma is sweet grains and vanilla. Taste is rich with cereal and mint/basil with a nice crisp finish. Very good.

Probably my favorite of all the Brewmaster Resurve beers that Brooklyn put out in 2008. This beer quite reminds me of the Brooklyn-Schneider Hopfen-Weiss, straw like body, a slight hint of wild yeast, a beautiful bouquet of hops, like fresh hop cones ground up in your hands. All aspects of this beer play very well together. = Refreshing, Complex, Enjoyable & Delicious.

sample bbf 08. Pours a nice light mostly clear golden with a massive fluffy white head and some nice lace. Aroam is fruity, ligthly spiced, mostly american citrus hops with some crisp piney cooling notes. Good doughy and cracker malts, some breadiness, great hop spiciness, floral and good citrus and pine. Nice bone dry finish and clean refreshing bitterness from what I think was Glacier Hops on the description at the fest.

From draught sample at Capone’s. Hot dog spices in the nose, with coriander and orange peel and some light yeasty character. Very nice and calming. Light hazy golden amber with thin lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation - smooth. Nice and spicy with coriander and orange peel, maybe some peppercorn. Dry bitter acidity and chalky hops. Bitter in finish. Yeasty dry with right amount of pilsner malt flavor in the after. Like a dry tripel or aggressive wit.

Really nice spice character that I originally thought was ginger. I was worried that this would be one of those tastes that I like at the beginning but hate at the end, but it was mild enough so that I enjoyed it until the end, great job.

On draft at Capones. Pours a hazy gold with a frosty white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of peppery spice, sweetness and hops. Taste of light sweet, yet soury peppery hops. Quite different, yet very enjoyable.

Growler from Bierkraft. Very, very pale golden beer with a nice thick rocky head. Aroma is lightly citric and spicy with a soft flinty minerally character. Soft spiciness and the beginning of a light zesty bony (is that a flavour?) dryness. It comes across like a beer with the beginning of brett character going on in it. Lemony citrusy flavour with a nice herbal hop flavour on the back. Man, this is another really nice seasonal form these guys. The malts are distinct, but so dry that they are hard to describe. Fresh pilsner malt flavour with just a mix of wheaty tartness, herbal hoppiness and a spicy/citrusy dry yeastiness. This might be the first beer in awhile where I’ll go back to get another growler.
