Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Copper colored beer with think foamy head that dissipates quickly after a few sips. Rich floral hoppy aromas dominate with some straw undertones. Flavor starts with apricot and biscuit, then burnt carmel in the mid-palate with a crisp, bitter finish. Overall an excellent beer..... for a lager.

I shared a 12 oz bottle of this MereLikesBeer. It pours a dark honey amber with tan head. The aroma is hoppier than I expected, but with a nice sweet malty background. I was very pleasantly surprised with the flavor and the aroma, which was both plenty hoppy and malty, with some nice caramel notes. Very tasty brew! Cheers!

Well, this is my first "technical" rating for a lager..don’t think I am in love with the style, however this beer does the style justice. I tasted it with BeerBaron617, my beer buddy... It’s got a nice pour - a dark honey amber color with a nice off white head. It has lots of bubbly’s in it, which I like :) It smelled really nice, malty and a bit hoppy too. Not what I expected out of a lager. Taste was pretty decent. Defiantly tasted the sweetness of the malt and maybe a bit of honey and caramel. I got a big taste of the hops...it’s just really not what I expected out of a lager. Cheers to Brooklyn for doing a pretty decent job.

Just noticed that the best before date is March 07....I can’t imagine how great this beer must be when fresh. On the previous bottle I had, the pour was incredible and I was giving it a 10 but I was suspicious ’cause the glass was producing a cloud of endless fine bubbs that gave the brew an inch thick creamy cap the entire way so I decided to get another bottle into a different glass. This time the pour was equally good producing a large, thick off-white cap but this time the effervecance was almost nonexistant and the cap did not last. Left some sticky messy lacing and retains a ring. The beer is a medium amber colour and slightly hazy. The aroma is excellent and comes across quite refreshing - thick English style malts, good level of sweetness which is all blended perfectly with the soft floral hops. WOW. So chuggable! Well blended combination of caramel and biscuit malts, obvious spice and bold hops (apricotish) - more hops than I expected for the style, but a hell of alot less than the overhopped West coast stuff. Mouthfeel is ok and the carbonation is average. Medium bodied. The malts put a thin coating on the stiff hops that glue to your mouth. Great beer although I’d question it belonging in the standard ’lager’ category. Nice looking label! Another high quality offering from Brooklyn. Drink up.

I cannot believe I have never rated this! Nice dark yellow, good sized white head. Nice hoppy aroma. Taste is excellent - well hopped over a light but malty base. Floral. A session go to beer when I find it on the LCBO shelves.

Amber pour with an off-white head. Malty aroma with some hoppiness coming out in the aroma. Flavor has some sweetness to it, nice malt . Crisp tasting, sweet aftertaste. It is what lager should be- Tasty!. Good at 45 -50 degrees. Crisy sweet malt aftertaste- a great flagship beer. Nice lacing.
