Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

(12oz. bottle) Pours a golden body with a small off-white head. Aroma of orange pulp, toasted grain, dustiness, and some florals. Flavor of hops (grass, floral, earth) and toasted malt with a moderately bitter finish.

pours a clear amber with a thick off white head. Aroma of floral hops. Floral hops in the taste, a bit like apples in the middle with the hop bitter finish. Kind of dry on the palate. Not bad.

16oz can. An OK lager but nothing special. Being from Boston I actually prefer me a Sam Adams Boston Lager.

Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle. Good hoppy nose, could detect grass and aniseed, with some creaminess. I also thought there was some pepperiness in there, which I tend to associate with Czech pilseners. Hint of caramel towards the end, and a touch smoky.

On tap at P.J. Clarke’s. Very difficult to differentiate from Sam Adams. Pours amber in color with a frothy tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Smells and tastes mildly of hops, caramel, and faitn red apples. Fair.

Finally able to taste this beer!! I tried both their Brown and Black before thanks to a friend of mine but I can now try this one at home.I used the Brooklyn Pokal that I had. Beautiful amber color with a rich creamy head. The nose is all flowery hops. Very inviting. The palate reveals some hop flavors and some fruits - a bit of citrus - and finishes with a touch of spice. Well-rounded, you can taste the use of the malts to balance it all. Finishes on a little dry note. I do not remember when drinking a lager was such an enjoyable experience!!

355 mL bottle. Pours a beautiful copper gold with a creamy white head that sticks around, nice. Biting flowery hop nose, with a dry malt hint, nice. Flavourful malt with a meaty floral hop, with dashes of spice and fruit. Nice bitter finish. Like the first time I had a Creemore, this is a pleasant reminder that lagers can be a beautiful thing.
