Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

Bottle. Aroma of light fruitiness and wheat cracker. Flavor much the same. Hops always hovering. A really nice beer to chill with, not sure what else to say, but probably the most enjoyable light lager I’ve had to date.

Slighty dry finish to this, great brew though. Easily a session beer. Great taste of hops and malt mixed together nicely. Off to get more!

Bottle, from a bodega blocks from the brewery (the Bklyn one, where this is NOT made). A clear orange-amber beer with a modest white head that leaves lacing. Aroma is caramel malt, with some flowery hops notes. The taste is surprisingly hoppy for a lager, atop a solid malt backbone. Finish is crisp dry hop bitterness. I could drink this all night, in fact I just might.

Pours darkish golden with a decent sized head. Aroma of caramel with some fruitiness. Nice palate, finishes a bit dry.

Honestly, I had been avoiding this beer for a little while. Usually the flagship beers for any individual brewery seem dull and boring. I really expected a lot less from this. Fist I was highly impressed with the head formation and glass lacing. It has head similar to some Belgians I have had. The taste was heavy on the amber malts and caramel with a bit of bitterness to balance out, even if was a bit over bitter for the style. The only thing that really spoiled it for me was the aroma.

I had never tried this, and was pretty happy to see the six pack cans. Medium towards light amber, very nice head. Aroma very citrusy with some malt in the back. Nice malt flavor, sort of has that "built up" malt flavor you find in some Czech lagers that supposedly comes from the decoction mashing. No clue if they do decoction mashing for this or not, but who cares, they got a nice flavor! The finish is citric hops, out front and bitter. Very pleasant, much more ale-like in some ways than I expected. Good stuff.

Rich amber color, decent head. Beautiful boquet of several fruits and flowers. Generous amount of hops nad malt for a lager. Complex and balanced.

The best part of this beer was the billowing head. Very pronounced maltiness and more hop bitterness than was expecting. There were some butterscotch flavors that I didn’t like.
