Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

12 oz. bottle my mother-in-law brought back from NY - Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is light grain and very light herbal hops. Flavor is toasted grain with a nice bit of hop bitterness. Medium body. A smooth, easy drinking Vienna. A nice beer.

$8.69 for a six pack at Winn Dixie. Its out of character for me to be buying six packs of a lager, but this and the brown ale were the first Brooklyn brews I have seen in North Florida. This is not your typical swill lager. Very hoppy, with a round, smooth malt base that holds everything together. Dry and nicely bitter on the finish. No faults, and excellent. One of the few lagers I actually enjoyed drinking. Amazing to find it at Winn Dixie.

Bottle. Some floral hop aroma and lightly smoked malt. The flavor is similar and decent for the style. Dry-finish with some lingering hops.

Pours a clear, ruby brown with a sandalwood head. The aroma is dominated by the flowery, piney hops. The flavor is dominated by the same notes, but the beer is crisp and refreshing. The malts do tend to fall by the wayside in this beer, but for the style, this is a fantastic representation.

A lager with a nice malty and hoppy aroma. The flavour is crisp and cleand like a lager should be, with a sound amount of hops. The is is quite dry and bitter with a nice malt flavour. A fine beer!

This is a very nice beer. It pours a copper color, with a moderate white head. It has a very pleasant, citrusy hop aroma. I really like the flavor--it is well-balanced between the malt and the hops, with just a tiny bit of hops bitterness as it goes down. One of the other posters said it best: it tastes like a pale ale turned into a lager.

Had on tap at the London Bridge in Jax. Poured a nice copper-orange color displaying a durable, rocky 1’2" white head. Some spotty lacing as glass drained. Aromas were admirably balanced between the surprisingly upfront hops notes and the caramel malts. Plenty of citrus and floral hop aromas combined with toffee, biscuit and caramel. Mouthfeel was moderately full, fluffy and very smooth with a refreshing amount of carbonation. Taste profile was quite APA like with plenty of citrusy/floral/spicy hops coming to the forefront, but it still maintained the clean delicateness of a lager. Finish brings in the malty, caramel candy, toffee sweetness. Easy drinking and would be a superb everyday lager to enjoy regularly.
