Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Lager, the Brewery's flagship label, is New York's "hometown" beer, brewed to a pre-Prohibition recipe that dates back to the days when Brooklyn was the brewing capital of the East Coast. Brooklyn Lager has won numerous awards. Wrote Michael Jackson in the Simon & Schuster Pocket Guide to Beer: "The dry-hopped, fresh, flowery, firm, flavourful, Brooklyn Lager **-*** started well, in 1988, and has gained in character since."

This is a very good Vienna. Aroma was caramel with some hops in there as well. Pour was a nice dark gold with a one finger off white head. Taste was classic Vienna. Caramel and malt mostly and the hops round out the beer in the end. Sticky and wet mouth feel. Nice.

Crystal clear medium amber body with lively carbonation. Large, spongy, off-white head that settles to a 1mm blanket of foam. Nice thick ribbons of lacing circle the glass. The aroma is subtle but well constructed. Toasty bread notes and surprisingly lively herbal hops play well over a caramel malt base. Floral scents make their way into the mix, adding subtle complexity. The flavor is very similar, with toasty grains, caramel malts, floral and herbal hops blending well in a very fresh tasting, refreshing rendition of the style. There’s a bit of cream mixed in as well, adding smoothness. Medium bodied, with a lively mouthfeel. The finish is mildly spicy. Not a knock your socks off style, but this is well crafted.

Beautiful amber pour. Pretty hoppy for a lager. Good beer to check out if your in the New York area. Obviously much better on tap than in the bottle.

This is part of a beer club. Had only one bottle but was decent for the price. Poured great and had a nice finish. Would do again.

I enjoyed this on draft in Manhattan, and was really pleasantly surprised. The aroma was not too exciting, mostly grainy/earthy hops with a touch of caramel malt. A good appearance, a very dark rust color with a creamy, tan head. The flavor was quite good, hoppy and mostly bitter, but had some sweet aspects as well. I was very impressed with this type of palate from a lager. It was quite creamy and smooth, but still had ample carbonation, very well done. Overall, it exceeded my expectations and I would like to have it again.
