Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Bottle from Wegman’s in Princeton. Really yeasty, perfumy aroma with pale malt, light fruits, and spices. Flavor is lots of yeast, floral hops, pale malt, green apple, and spices. Sort of a tripel meets a saison meets a strong Belgian golden ale. Lively palate. Very well done.

Bottle. Cork blew off when I took the cage off, so watch out. Pours clean golden with fluffy white head. Light palate, a bit syrupy. Aroma is a bit of fruit but a lot of yeast, with some alcohol. First impression is a lot of apple. Clean finish. The yeast provides the real flavor, unfortunately its all sitting at the bottom. Good beer overall.

6/14/09 - Bottle # 3,658: Aroma: Hints of orange, smells like this beer has a large malt bill Appearance: Lovely golden yellow with a red copper tint with a fluffy one inch head Flavor: Hints of bavarian hops, the strength of the malt is noticable but well balanced, notes of wheat, slight alcohol presence in finish Palate: Reminiscent of a belgian ale, smooth and viscous Overall Imperssion: Reminiscent of a belgian ale, however not quite as refined. That being said, I’m impressed by the skill of Garrett Oliver.

"(bottle #1657) Pale cloudy straw with a massive off white fluffy cap, the retention is phenomenal I’ve been waiting for ten min to drink this but I can’t the cap aint shrinking. Sour yeasty wheat some lemon, floral notes, and some alcohol all and all not to bad smelling and kind of complex I liked it. Flavour seems milder then the aroma, spicy notes come through in the finish. Wheaty malt with lemon highlights the alcohol shows up mildly in the finish. More enjoyable then I thought it would be but not as good as the Belgian masters. As a final note this is one of those beers where none of the overall scores for smell and flavour are that high but it seems to me more then the sum of its parts, I really enjoy it. "

This brew looks like it has a bit of bounce to it. Slightly thick, creamy gold color with a fluffy white head. Aroma of red apples, malt, and a bit of chai spice. The taste matches the aroma, although the apple flavor takes a back seat to the malt and spice. That’s a good thing, though.

CBF 2009: Medium yellow and hazy. White head, mostly diminishing. Aroma has faint notes of citrus and corinander. Flavor is moderate acidic.

Bottle, Mondial 2009. Hazy yellow with a big fluffy head. Aroma is yeasty, citrusy and malty. Taste is yeast and citrusy. Nothing really special there. Well made but nothing special to me.
