Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Clear golden yellow with much carbon dioxide. Nice cloudy and smooth white head. Aroma is nicely belgian style: malty, fruity, yeast and spices. Flavor is slightly banana-like, yeasty, spicy with a bit apple and alcohol. Palate is smootlhy carbonated, medium-bodied and a bit alcoholic.

Bottled. Very grainy, barley, wheat aroma, extremely dry. Flavor has a touch of sweetness up front but ends in a wet, soggy dryness that sucks up moisture from the tongue. A touch of hop or of citrus, maybe, but this is mostly like licking a rug. I had high expectations for this beer, I am disappointed. But maybe I just am horrifically sick of Brooklyn after drinking some 13 or 14 of theirs beers in the past week.

Bottle. Body-honey yellow with a very thick, very foamy head. Nose-big sweet macroness, yeasty. Taste-high CO2, lotion, metal, banana, clove, big yeast, banana esters, light bitter, candy sugar, definitely a Belgian yeast strain. Reminiscent of Duvel. Perfume, clove, apple skin, raw sugar, unrefined, white grapes. Like an “Imperial Duvel”.

750 ml bottle. Slightly hazy golden yellow colour, thick and foamy white head. Pleasant fruity and spicy aroma. Malty, rather dry flavour with oranges and other fruits, and a spicy, peppery bitter finish with some alcohol warmth.
