Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

Reviewed 11/21/2008 (bottle): Pours a clear golden color body with a big frothy white head, good lacing & lasting Flowery malty banana aroma. Light fruit and sweet spices. Not overpowering. Spicy banana taste. Light malts, watery palate, but carbonated. Some what warming. Nice Belgian-y taste. Super carbonated as it warms, harsh.

Bottle at Volo, Toronto, November 2008. This looks cloudy yellow, gold with a reasonably long lasting head in two tall Brooklyn label goblets. There is nice lacing on the glass. The aroma is yeasty, a bit spicy with some pear and citrus. The flavour is full of lime, with some other citrus fruits, apple, and subtle hops in the finish. Nicely complex in flavour. I like the mouthfeel too, with plenty of carbonation on the tongue. A shame this doesn’t see much distribution in Ontario, and none outside of a couple of private restaurants, pubs.

Sample from 750ml bottle at Draft Magazine’s Big Pour in Mesa. Pours a cloudy yellow with a white head. Nose is very sweet with some spice. Taste s bubblegum, light spice, cotton candy. Medium mouth feel. A little too sweet for my taste, but a well put together beer.

Golden orange with a thin white head. sweet on the palate - typical of Belgian brews - hence the use of raw sugar during the fermentation process. Clean spicy aroma with a lingering finish on the palate. My first sample of this brewery and certainly not the last.

From bottle at Salone del Gusto 2008. Cloudy golden, small white head. Spicy and fruity aroma, quite a bit of coriander. Good fruity flavours blending with coriander. A solid, but rough NY tripel.

This one poured a golden orange color with a big foamy white head that recedes slowly and leaves spotty lacing on the glass. The aroma is of sweet citrus fruits, malts, some hops, and spices. The flavor follwed suit with citrus fruits, malts and cinnamon spices. It had that nice strong ale flavor with the belgian yeast in it. The body was medium with the right amount of carbonation and smooth spicy finish. This was easy drinking with some good sweet flavor to it. Nicely done.

Lots of bready aromas off this 750 ml bottle. Some fruit and more yeast on the flavor. Malty sweet with a very nice finish. Good stuff.
