Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

750 ml bottle, corked & caged from Wine Specialist. Hazy gold color with a decent white head. Floral and dark, sugary aromas. Perhaps a touch of yeast spice. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is a bit sweet, with a little citrus and a bunch of herb or veg with yeast. Maybe even a hint of chocolate. Finishes rather dry after the liquid goes away. Really pretty good stuff, and there are fruit and spice notes I can’t easily identify. Excellent drink.

Hazy golden color with a huge white head and heavy lacing. Aroma of spices, citrus and yeast. Flavor is sweet, spicy, with citrus and lots of carbonation. Like a tripel

Lively, murky golden pour with a white head that hangs around for a few minutes. Very little lacing. Aroma is floral. Front end gives you a healthy shot of fruit flavor. Subtle hop finish. Very good

75cl bottle from Total Wine (Jacksonville, FL). Rated on 2/23/08. Pours a cloudy golden color with thin white head. Aroma is molasses, honey, toffee. Flavor is much of the same with hints of pear and bread. Some spice. Light to medium-body with quick, watery finish.

From a 1 pt. 9.4 fl. oz tall bottle no. 3117. Aroma of malts, yeast, and sweetness. Pours a tad hazy golden-bronze with a sizeable off-white head. A goodly amount of lacing. Medium body. Flavor of malts, spices and yeast. The alcohol is also noticeable in the taste and the aroma but it is more subtle than obvious. I shared samples with my Budweiser-drinking friends and they thought it was great. Maybe I’ve helped them change their path to better beers. I thought it was also a nice beer overall.

I have had this twice. A good bit of diacetyl presence is overlaid upon a good base beer, honeyed and with some straw, with nondistinct fruit. Nice pour, average looks and feel, but overall sweet and not ight, flowery or herbally enough to sustain it over the butteriness. Both times I was relatively unimpressed.

Poured an attractive golden color with fluffy white head that dissipated fairly rapidly. Aroma is of yeast, spice, and fruit. Flavor was very similar to the aroma and I detected a fruity taste of pears. Beer is nicely balanced and mouthfeel is pleasant. Good stuff.
