Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

pours a cloudy gold with a huge white head that lingers a while. a nutty malt smell dominates, but is accompanied by lots of fruity esters: pears and apples stand out the most, with some banana, grape, and maybe even some strawberry finishing it out. flavor is much the same, with a light caramel hint coming through as well. lightly bittersweet finish, medium body, perhaps a hint of tartness in there as well. tons of carbonation for a tight, creamy mouthfeel. quite good.

Lovely honey and grapefruit notes. A hint of hay and soft leather. The head is full and creamy. Cloudy pour gives way to a gold-amber hue. Excellent mouthfeel - full and round. A smooth, delightful beer.

According to the description, this beer has a high eco-footprint. Nevertheless, the ingredients shipped from around the world make this a good beer. The bottle is a presentation in itself. Pours cloudy gold with a white head that lasts throughout the beer lacing was not significant. Citrus, yeasty aroma. Nice Belgian flavor with a very slight alcohol taste. Very smooth and flavorful beer with a suble but noticable yeasty, savory belgian aftertaste. A Belgian that does not try to be too fancy it just relies on the quality of ingredients and the essence of the style.

Bottle at WBF in Raleigh. Was expecting more recognizable Belgian notes from this beer. Found it sweet, malty, but not yeasty as I wanted it to be. Simply okay. Would like to try again as I think it was overshadowed by other tastings at the fest. **** Tasted again a year later. Found it much tastier... resiny hops and astringent citrus.

Brooklyn Local 1 ABV: 9% Calories: estimated at 400 C Volume: 25.4 fl oz Glass: Tulip Purchased at: Glendale Liquors, Hamilton Price: 7.99 Consumed at: Home sensory first impression: Belgian overtones, with lager aromas. Head is nice, thick, but dissipates quickly. Head and lacing look enhanced - foamy, bright white. Body is deep amber with orange highlights. Nice immediate flavor. Orange, piney, with a spicy bite. Slightly hazy with an alcohol burn, but to be expected at 9%. Aroma: 9 out of 10 banana, apple, kiwi, piney, long full mouth effects. sandy, crisp and dry. Could easily be mistaken for a deep champagne. Visuals: 4 out of 5 Color is amber, and bright. Liquid is slightly hazy, but bottle conditioning is quite evident. Head and lace are white, thin, and disappointing. Taste: 9 out of 10 fruity, dark, hoppy, and hot. Bitter with Sour overtones. Palate: 5 out of 5 Body is very full, Mouthfeel is heavy and well rounded. Active everywhere on the palate - one of the most impressive beers I’ve had in this regard. Texture is sharp, dry and crisp. Carbonation is heavy. Finish is long, malty, dark, roasted, and deep. Overall experience: 18 out of 20. I liked the flavor, darkness, roasted notes, celebratory style. A fantastic housewarming gift.

Pours gold with a billowy head. Aroma is fruity with elements of orange and banana. Flavor is just like a Belgian strong ale should be. Citrusy with lots of coriander. Highly drinkable and highly local.

750ml bottle. Part of a blind tasting. Smell is great - rich peach, clove, raspberries, and nectar of the Gods. Unfortunately, body seemed a bit thin, which punished such a pwnage nose. To make matters worse a slight metallic note was hiding under forgettable spices. The tasting session was large and this was kind of left behind. Rerate: Didn’t notice anything remarkable about the aroma. Large amounts of dry alcohol. This isn’t a tripel?
