Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

750mL bottle. Pours a bright golden color with the slightest amount of haze; fluffy white head with excellent retention and fine-bubbled lacing that sticks; a beautiful pour. Intense, dense aroma, showing tons of honey, creme brulee, cotton candy, and Belgian sugars, all infused with a lively level of vibrant citrus and complex yeast and dry breadiness and dough. I’ve had this bottle in the back of my cellar for probably six months, and I wasn’t expecting anything like this. Delicate, creamy carbonation in the mouthfeel, overlaid across chewy cotton candy, Belgian sugars, honey and a dry, generous yeasty and bready core; perfect balance of chewiness and dry yeast / dough; luxurious mouthfeel; I’m just blown away by this beer. Nothing sticky, nothing heavy, no evident alcohol, flawless (after six months). Long finish, showing plenty of dry bread and doughiness, lingering yeast, and honey. I’m sort of thrown off by how much I enjoyed this.

750 ml bottle. Yellowish golden colour with a nice spicy peppery yeast aroma. Characterful Belgian character. Aroma is much like a tripel. Powdery dry texture. Rich malty sweetness. Surprisingly authentic. Very mellow. Has quite a bit of residual sugars for a beer like this. Overall this is a really well-made beer.

Bottle: Courtesy of my father-in-law. Thanks for sharing this one. Pours a murky, pale yellow with an irrelevant white head. This is such a refreshing quaff after being stuck in a stout, porter, dark beer rut for a while. Notes of lemon grass, bread dough, light citrus, and belgian yeast compliment each other well. Medium-bodied mouth feel and well-carbonated. Slightly dry, tart citrus flavor with that distinctive Belgian flavor to it. Very well-rounded and one that I would love to get my hands on again. Thanks Ron!

Pours a clear color with a thin orange head with strong aroma with booze vaporizeing off into your nose. As i put my nose to it you can really smell the yeast and grain with hints of clove. The flavor was extreamly boozy with some hints of dark fruit and you can really taste that hop bitterness. The finish is fairly complex with some carbonation tingle on your tounge, definitly enjoyable.

Just like the description, German malt and Belgian yeast, some bread and spice in the nose and the taste. My glass was first pour off a new bottle so it was surprisingly clear, with a small white head. Some hops in the dry finish.

Lavishly designed bomber poured into a pint glass. Smell is awesome. Crossing a bit of an ipa aroma of fruit with the traditional belgian yeastiness. Pours an insanely huge head that dissipated fairly quickly but left spectacular lacing. Taste is quite complex and unique. Slightly bitter and hoppy the yeast, honey and a fruity undertone. The bitterness starts on the finish and gives way to a very light sweetness on the back end. Really terrific. Only available in the corked 750ml bottle.

Bottle. Poured a medium fizzy white head that mostly diminished, virtually no lacing, fast rising carbonation, cloudy, and a pale yellow hue. The aroma was yeast, malty, hoppy, sweet, spicy, and some fruit. The flavor was sweet, fruity, spicy, semi-sticky tasting, yeasty, malty, and a dry finish. Tingly, sticky and dry mouthfeel. Medium in body. A solid beer for the style and worthy of a try.

750 ml bottle...poured a nice golden yellow w/ a white, fizzy, mostly diminishing head. Nice nose of citrus, sugary malts, sweet fruit and spice. Taste was somehwhat of a mixure between a saison and Belgian strong. Spicy and sweet with some smooth caramel mixed in...nice mixture. Very good, but somewhat thick on the palate. Very solid...
