Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

750 ml bottle from Richmond Beverage in Richmond, VT (March 2008), sampled a little below cellar temperature (to start) from a Maudite glass and accompanied by pepperoni, smoked mozzarella and Twin Peaks. Very pale, opaque gold with a moderate fizzy snow-white head that disappears quickly and doesn’t lace....hugely potent spicy aroma of lemongrass, coriander, orangepeel and ginger with underpinnings of pale and caramelized malts faintly showing through....highly carbonated, caramel-sweet at the beginning, with citric acidity and spicy qualities showing up midpalate, drying peppery notes towards the finish which is lightly tart and a bit saison-like....pretty light-bodied and a little too effervescent for my taste, but a solid product and one of the better Brooklyn brews I’ve had, certainly.

Pours a golden color with a nice aroma. Light and tasty but a slight bit watery on the palate. Overall a great beer and worth drinking.

Lavishly designed bomber poured into a pint glass. Smell is awesome. Crossing a bit of an ipa aroma of fruit with the traditional belgian yeastiness. Pours an insanely huge head that dissipated fairly quickly but left spectacular lacing. Taste is quite complex and unique. Clearly this was inspired by the Abbey Trippels. Slightly bitter and hoppy the yeast, honey and a fruity undertone I can’t place come through. The bitterness starts on the finish and gives way to a very light sweetness on the back end. Really terrific. I’d have rated this higher but trippels are probably my least favorite style of belgian.

Smells nice and yeasty with a touch of honey on the aroma. Full and slightly creamy palate with a hint of fruit. The suggestion of honey definitely makes itself clear on the finish with some slight sweetness. Brooklyn, again, delivers an admirable brew.

Pours a golden yellow with a bit of carbonation. bit of a malty spice flavor typical of what you’d expect from this style. But still have a little complexity of it’s own. Really enjoyed this one.

Semi sweet aroma, reminded me of raisins for some reason. Amazingly large head at first pour, frothy but good.
