Commercial Description:
In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1. Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors. Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our special yeast. To create this beer, we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. Enjoy it locally or globally, as an aperitif or with your favorite dishes. It is particularly nice with spicy seafood and with fine cheeses.

The pour produces a fairly clear, medium light yellow body that easily is aroused into a frothy white head. Belgian yeast and lemon aroma. Very light bodied, lightly sweet with a lemony tang. Good, but not overly complex. Light somewhat refreshng

Another big winner from Brooklyn. Tremendously tasty and complex, I was happy to find this one all the way down here in NC. I pounded the whole 750 mil bottle like it was nothin’. Highly recommended.

Beautifully unfiltered honey gold haze with lots of activity within the body of liquid. Creamy capping of slightly parched yellowed foam grows up to about a inch high and stays put for great length. Eventually fades to a compact, thick skim of substantial girth and weight. Lacing sticks across the glass with drippy, boney fingered lace. Aroma is quite nice and sharp with a well-rounded array of mild grasses, dullish lemon candy, peach fuzz, pineapple husks, and musty breads. Nice little notes of Belgian yeasty spices adding that Saison kick. Taste has a well developed undertone of malty sweetness and a smooth candied underscoring. Its quite complex, yet seemingly mild and somehow simple in tone. Very unique flavors meld together all throughout with a slightly bready chewyness tied together with active sugary smoothness, peppy carbonation at the edges of the palate and during the middle are favorable; big bubblegum esters underneath and grow from there - and fun little hints to citrusy/tropical fruits; pineapple, peach, orange and lemon. Fantastic chewy bubblegum stuff going on throughout. Yum! Complex body and nearly full on the mouthfeel. It plays all sorts of fun, sweetened, smoothness and milding yeasty carbonation. Its smoothened creamyness is awesome as it rides, glides, and prepares the palate for a small bite in the middle of yeasty action, partially drying, then rounds off to be and stay fulfillingly rich and lasting in a bubblegummy residue of leftover tropical candy juices. Wow, a solid Saison by Brooklyn Brewery! I can and will drink this big Ol’ 750ml without a problem as the 9% can’t be found anywhere. Oh, the bottle and label are quite classy too. Me likey this beery!

750 ml bottle with cork. Somewhat sweet aroma with hints of Brett; farmhouse quality nose. Hazy gold with a large white head and plentiful visible carbonation. Definite Belgian character down to the heavy carbonation. Brooklyn nails the Belgian Strong style better than most U.S. brewers have been able to. A true pleasure to drink. A more prevalent hop profile than is typical of Belgian brews delights at mid bottle. Excellent.

Rated while drinking: Cloudy banana-yellow color with an enormous fluffy and billowy white head. Sweet orange and spicy aroma. Flower-like. Fruity and juicy in the mouth. Yum. Sweet and sour, yet smooth and crisp. Well done Belgian from Brooklyn.

Bottle. Malt aroma of light bread, moderate smell of orange for the hops, light note of dough for the yeast, and peach in the background. Head is small, fizzy white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Flavor starts moderately sweet and acidic, then finishes moderately acidic, lightly bitter and a little sour. Palate is light, watery/creamy and has a lively carbonation. A nice fruity Belgian Strong.

750 ml bottle poured a hazy gold with a small lasting creamy white head. Aromas of fruitiness, candy sugar and light spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of pineapple, pears, candy sugar and spice with a smooth sweet finish.

Slight hazy golden with an initially thick head that settles down to a thin layer of foam. Yeasty aroma and I can’t pick up much else besides alcohol. Medium body and really charged up with carbonation. Maybe too much. Quite bitter flavor and lots of yeast. Some sugary sweetness. Overall not one of my favorites.
