jumpjet2k (137), Austin, Texas, USA Nov 9, 2009 750. Pours deep dark brown, nearly black, with a humongous head - carbonation is very vigorous. Aroma has dark fruit, spices, honey, some yeast. Flavor contains a nice mix of sweet malts with spiciness; the orange peel comes through, along with candi sugar notes and caramel. The honey lends some dryness, particularly in the finish, though there’s a little sweetness that follows through to the end. A pleasantly dry and sparkling palate. An interesting and well-constructed beer. Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Nov 8, 2009 Received 750 ml bottle via Secret Santa 2009. Pours a deep semi-hazy amber colored brew with a heavy off-white head that slowly dissipated to a thin ring. Aroma of dark pitted fruits, some figs, a hint of candi sugar, vanilla and caramel malt, Taste is medium to full bodied, some alcohol scent, with flavors of candi sugar, a touch of banana and vanilla. Finish semi-tart, with a nice vanilla and dark pitted fruit aftertaste. redlight (1445), Winter Park, Florida, USA Nov 7, 2009 750 ml bottle. Honey and sweet malts on the nose, spicy. Pours a hazy amber with a thick fluffy off white head. Caramelly malty, very crisp, starts out sweet but has a crisp bite and a dry finish. Very nice drinking beer. I’m drinking it with braised lamb shank with wild mushrooms and it is pairing very nicely! sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA Nov 7, 2009 pours a beep brown red with a huge off white head. aroma is up front with citrus peel, lots of orange, candied sugar, malt, alcohol. drinks the same with a smooth sweetness and a fresh citrusy element that works very well. 9% is well hidden and this is very drinkable. Pours a brown, hazy color with a very large, frothy white head. Lacing is weak. Aromas of candy, bananas, malts, and citrus. Creamy palate to start, a smooth mouthfeel, and a clean finish. Flavors of malts, citrus, and I get just a bit of the honey as the aftertaste. Good beer that was enjoyable. golubj (1275), Sunnyvale, California, USA Nov 3, 2009 A very special bottle from EDA, thanks. Dark pour, almost black, with some beige head.
