Beige foamy head over a mahogany body. Aroma of spiced fruits. Comprehensive sweet flavour of orange shells, caramel and chocolate malts added by dark honey. Masked alcohol. Sweet, but a fine partner to the Brewmaster Carbonade Flamande (14.05.2009). 00cobraR (1098), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 1/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2009 750ml - Pours a slightly hazy dark reddish brown in color with a foamy light tan head. No lacing. Aroma is Slightly sweet and yeasty with a nice fruitiness and some spices. Flavor is not nearly as sweet as it smells, but there is definitely some caramel and candi sugar present. Plenty of Belgian yeast with lots of fruit (plum, cherry, citrus). Some warming alcohol present too, but not overpowering at all. I really like this, but not quite in the same league as the top shelf "Belgians" (Belgian, American or otherwise). ChainGangGuy (2568), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 31, 2009 Appearance: Pours out a deeply hazy, dark brown body with some amberish-hues to the edges and capped by a fluffed, off-white head.
Smell: Sweetish, with accents of dark candi sugar and gooey honey. Fruity, with touches of cherry and plum. Spicy, with both savory hop and yeast notes. Oh, and let’s not forget the darkened, delicately toasted maltiness.
Taste: Dark, lightly toasted malts with a few stray, sweet additions of caramel, chocolate, honey, and dark candi sugar. Fruity tastes of plum, sweet Michigan cherries, and even a dash of dried orange peel. Earthy, finely floral, spicy hop character follows with no more than a light, fleeting bitterness. Some peppery alcohol notes and Belgian yeast hints in the latter half. Rebound of toasted sugar tastes. Finishes remarkably dry and with a definite, crackling crispness (which is not to say it wasn’t crisp from the very beginning).
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Well carbonated with an elegant, effervescent mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Brooklyn Local 2 is lively, fresh, and inviting. Also, the crisp nature and well-hidden alcohol makes this one fairly easy to down. Recommended if you’re a fan of the Belgian Darks. drseusszb200 (198), Florida, USA
