| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Pours deep reddish brown with a frothy beige head. Subdued aroma of Belgian yeast, burnt candy sugar, and toffee-ish dark malt. The beer really pops on the palate. The malt drives the flavor, which feels a bit like a strong Belgian-tinted ESB. The honey is noticeable, as is the orange peel. The 9% alcohol is not. Very easy to drink. Rich, creamy mouthfeel. dchmela (1473), Orlando, Florida, USA

Sweet malt bitter, caramel and dark fruit taste with a surprisingly nice kick. Solid offering from Brooklyn.

MaltDawg (810), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Bottle #3038: I was about to rate this beer poorly, until I realized it was a Belgian Strong. Aroma is nice, just as advertised on the bottle: dark sugars and fruits, yeast and malt. Great color, very deep red and brown tones, off white thick head. First taste reveals the fruits though they are very dark, cooked. No citrus to speak of as the label suggests, but dark and bitter chocolate is available. Very high carbonation that scrubs away the taste, leaving the alcohol finish. Good for the style, maybe just not my style. Rune (2863), Tromsø, Norway
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Big bottle, no. 0919, topped by a wire cradle and a cork shared at the splendid beer-dinner happening with Garrett Oliver at Slotskroen in Hillerød. Beige foamy head over a mahogany body. Aroma of spiced fruits. Comprehensive sweet flavour of orange shells, caramel and chocolate malts added by dark honey. Masked alcohol. Sweet, but a fine partner to the Brewmaster Carbonade Flamande (14.05.2009). 00cobraR (1103), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA
