Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a fluffy off-white head that left sticky lacing along the glass. Aroma was moderately hoppy and yeasty with honey, fruit, candi sugar and caramel. Flavor was wild honey, belgian yeast, dark fruit, a hint of molasses and some caramel sweetness with a medium body and has a clean and dry finish. Decent brew

In short: A very sweet, very yeasty, very earthy and very fruity Belgian dark ale. An ok heavy beer but a whole bottle is tiresome.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed when about 8 months of age.
The look: Clear dark amber body topped by a small beige head
In long: The strong nose is very yeasty and very herbal. Taste is very sweet (too sweet), very earthy, lots of dried dark fruits, fresh dark fruits, lots of brown sugar, moderate spicy notes, caramel, honey, some cacao powder, ripe banana peels. Carbonation and mouthfeel is truly Belgian. With every sip I couldn’t find anything wrong with the beer yet I was eager for my bottle to be over and I don’t think I’ll buy another bottle ever again. It’s just that type of well put together sweet Belgian dark ale that is just like too many other sweet Belgian dark ale. I much prefer its next door neighbour, Local 1.

Reddish-brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma is malty, sweet, a little bit of citrus. The dry taste hits you at first, then you taste the malt, a little caramel, and a nice sweet taste. As it warms up, you get a better taste of dark sugar and yeast. Nice mouthfeel, dry but flavorful.

From the Bottle at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 26/09/2009 Carbonation. Yeast and malt aromas. Thick white head. Mid brown coloured hazy in appearance and hoppy with a little dryness in a crisp and bitter malt finish.

The cork releases with a pop that could be heard in the next county. A henna/coffee pour yields the smoothest, creamiest almond foam, with stamina that belies its delicacy. Softspoken yet commanding aroma features succulent fruit- grape and strawberry- roses, bubblegum, spice, cookie dough, and pina colada. The flavor is amazingly complex and seductive; cava, flowers, subtle spice and candied fruit, hints of orange and cognac... mere words don’t do it justice. Perfect carbonation contributes to a mouthfeel that is fluffy as feathers and light as a cloud. Each sip further sheathes my glass with gossamer lace. Simply stunning... Garrett Oliver does it again!

Bottle. Nose is sweet and peppery with a touch of citrus. Pours with a beautiful and massive offwhite head and a clear but dark brown body. Flavor is simple but nicely balanced. Peppery spice and a restrained fruity sweetness with a dry finish punctuated by caramel maltiness. Very saisonesque but with darker malt character, which plays well on the fruity yeast notes.

The beer was lightly malted with dark roasted malts. The beer is not as complex and does not fit the style european strong ales. The alcohol was present.

Pours a deep ruby red with a three finger fizzy head that persists. Nose is candied sugar and sweet dark fruits. The flavor is a bit sweet and a touch medicine like, with a bit of a sharp mouthfeel. Sweet finish.
