| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | May 18, 2009 Updated: May 19, 2009Bottle at J.K. O’Donnell’s Irish Ale House (Fort Wayne, IN) - Corked and caged bottle. Small tan head with excellent retention, one ring of lacing, opaque, no visible carbonation, and a dark brown hue. The aroma came together very nicely-malt, caramel, dark fruits, spicy, and some notes of honey . The flavor was not to be outdone-malty, caramel, some notes of honey, dark fruits, spicy, and the ABV was present but not overly so at 9%. Tingly mouthfeel and medium bodied. This is one heck of a great beer and hats off to the people at Brooklyn Brewery! Wow a very, very nice beer indeed! Nicely balanced and a sipping beer for sure IMO. More than worthy of a try, would drink this again if it comes my way, and this is not a beer to be taken lightly. A beer I will remember for a long tiime. More please! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 18, 2009 Brown with a lasting tan head. Fruity Belgian aroma with a little caramel. Sweetish caramel and fruity flavour. Lacks some complexity for 9% beer. Especially since I had it right after the more exciting Local 1 BroSpud (612), , Massachusetts, USA

The aroma is of malt, dark fruit, and honey. It tastes of sweet malt along with that dark fruit. The honey is also quite noticeable without being too much. Some mild hops come through to provide balance. It’s medium to full bodied and has a lively palate. Really nice brew.
