bottle. Gentle pour still yields a big, foamy two inches of off white head atop a pour of opaque, thick black with some faint dark amber highlights. Head sticks around forever. Aroma dominated by dark, fruity phenols over a light sugary sweetness, some faint yeasty spiciness. Relatively thin, muted aroma. Flavor shows a hefty bite of sharp spice and bitterness, lots of yeasty twang. Big heavy dark raisins and plums backed by boozy fruity phenols. Some notes of light sticky honey show up as per bottle, and some light orange notes; but spicy and dark sharp notes overpower. Palate suffers from some heavy, active overcarbonation. Otherwise very full and sharp with a light boozy finish. Overall a decent beer with some noticeable weak spots.

Bottle. Pours deep red brown with a seriously lasting creamy tan head. The aroma is mostly sweet, with candy sugar and some solid Belgian yeasty spiciness. The flavor is refined and balanced, with banana, dark fruits, and even some citrus, clove like spices, honey and candy sugar. Initially it seems over carbonated, but after sitting in the glass for a few minutes is becomes very smooth and pleasing. A very good beer, no doubt. A little bit like an abbey dubbel, a little bit like a weizenbock, and 100% tasty.

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma of candi sugar with some light dry fruits. Taste is also a very well balance mix between some candi sugar, some dry fruits such as figs some Belgian malt and light fruity ester. Honey and citrus notes are not as dominating as expected after the reading the beer description. Body is quite full with some creamy notes and good carbonation and no alcohol was apparent. Very well done and way superior to Local 1.

This was a very pleasant surprise. Truth in advertising, the nose presents a big citrus and honey presence. The citrus is slightly lemon rind though. Much the same is in the flavor but with the addition of a light cocoa powder over a mildly sweet banana plus other tropical fruit. Lightly phenolic. Highly carbonated gives it the perfect palate - very few American versions of Belgians seem to get the carbonation right but this one sure did. The only thing really wrong here was a bit too much alcohol in the finish, very warm but it wasn’t enough to be called a flaw, its just that some of the best beers do it better. Dark brown color, nice thick creamy head. All around alot to recommend here.

750 ML Bottle-murky brown color w/a moderate tan head & great lacing. Sweet, cane sugar aroma. Very easy drinking brew, flavors of dark fruit, honey/molasses, cloves, roasted malt, some bread dough, a little pepper, & citrus peel. Alcohol very well hidden. long rich finish-even better than the #1, which I found quite enjoyable.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark hazy brown caramel with a thick creamy light beige head. Peppery aroma with hints of cloves, bananas, dark fruit and yeast. Taste of light cloves and bananas with hints of dark fruit and yeast. Peppery flavor throughout.

Bottle. Looks like the one on the left. Dark colored pour with a tan head on it. Smell is sweet and full of dark fruits and yeast. Reminiscent of any Belgian beer I have had. Some citrus flavors in the nose provide an awkward smell. Taste is lively, surprisingly lighter body than initially thought. Smooth, easy to drink, and pretty good. Spicy in the finish as well. Not sure if this is better than local 1, but its certainly a good beer.

Sample from a 750ml bottle. Bottle conditioned, careful pour yields a faint haze in a dark brown body. Nose is dark candy sugar, clove, peppery, wheat, etc - some weizenbock characteristics present, even a small dose of banana. Smooth textured, some caramel and bran focused malts, maple sweetness. Mashed well, full body, little to no roughness, very polished. Good stuff.
