Bottle purchased at the brewery. Pours coffee in color with an oatmeal head. Smells similar to sun tan lotion - oddly floral. Complex in flavor. Tastes primarily of prune, clove, and salted potato. Original - I’ll give it that.

3/18/2009: Brooklyn Local 2 has a funky, sweat-like aroma. Luckily that subsides and becomes dry with weak chocolate notes. The flavor is complex and interesting with some slightly roasty cocoa nibs in the front. It also has dark fruits, a decent caramel presence, some sweet dark sugars in the middle, and a dry alcoholic and spicy finish. There is a only mild to moderate sweetness considering the amount of sugar in this beer. It is light and well-carbonated (effervescent) with an airy palate. Let it sit a bit to let some of the carbonation escape and settle down and this beer goes from really good to quite excellent. More of the dark brown sugar, a nice caramel malt characteristic, and hint of weak coffee all come out. I was skeptical of this beer at first, but I turned out to be very pleased with the beer. It is quite good now and will probably be awesome in 6 months to 1 year from now. I really need to grab a bottle of this to put down until then!

750ml caged&corked bottle. Pours a dark brown with orange/auburn highlights and a thick tan head. The aroma is awesome - a wonderful blend of yeast, esters, phenols, and malts: banana, doughy bread, caramel, chocolate, citrus, and peppery spice. The flavor follows the aroma: lovely citrus and sweet caramel-toffee malt with lots of wonderful fruity esters, including subtle hints of bubble gum. At mid-palate, there is a pleasant balancing bitterness, peppery, spicy phenols, and notes of chocolate. The finish is dry with a semisweet, spicy, doughy maltiness. The mouthfeel is medium-full in body and very pleasantly carbonated. Lots and lots of bubbles that pleasantly caress the tongue and accentuate the dry and spicy finish. Overall, an awesome, awesome brew.

Pours a cloudy brownish amber color with a thin tan head. the nose is a bit dry and has a yeast funk aroma with a mix of hops and a dash of malt. The flavor is full of citrus hops and toasted malt, you can really taste the orange peel in this beer. there is a nice semi sweet citrus flavor that sticks to the sides of your palate as you drink the beer and stays until the last drop. Overall it is an alright brew with a good amount of carbonation and well balanced with malt and hops.

Bottle (750ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, tupalev & jerc -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a very deep, bubbly orange-ruby with a large mostly-lasting frothy off-white head. Aroma’s sweet, yeasty and fruity along with some spices too. Flavour, like the aroma, is sweet and yeasty along with sweet malt, alcohol and a hint of spice in the lightly bitter finish. After a few sips I detect some chocolate as well. Average to medium bodied with an almost creamy mouthfeel. Pretty good, a well done beer.
