Richmond Gathering courtesy of maniac. Very dark brown, decent head. Aroma of candy sugar, earth, spice, roasty, and yeasty. Flavor was roast malts, yeast, honey, dark fruit, with a dry chocolate finish and some spiciness. Very complex, good stuff.

750 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a large, fluffy tan head that lasted until the last sip and left a moderate amount of lace. Pleasant aroma of malt, brown sugar apples and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is quite malty with brown sugar and dates also noted. Mild alcohol flavor at the finish, which becomes stronger as the beer warms. Fairly smooth at the finish with only slight bitterness. Enjoyable.

Bottle... Poured dark ruby/brownish with an off-white head. Buttery-caramel and malt aroma. Mellow, soft palate with tangy, dark fruit notes. Some sour yeast before the malt finish. Also some cloves in the finish too. Teetered on cloying but the brew pulled it off nicely.

Bottle from Pilsnerpete. Muddy, brown body with a very large, tan head. Head is fizzy and beer is clearly a bit overcarbonated. Nose is quite pleasant with dark fruits, light toffee and candi sugar, very light citrus and a touch of floral hops. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with lots of toffee, some dark fruit, a dose of licorice and quite a bit of roast. Actually, this would probably be a very nice beer if not for a bit too much dark malts, which seems to be the biggest difference (and the flaw) in American made Belgian Strongs. Medium body is very soft and carbonation, though present in high levels is gentle. Finish is long, but a bit unpleasant with the aforementioned dark malts coming through quite heavily and a very strong lingering licorice. All-in-all, not a bad effort from a decidedly mediocre brewery.

Pours a five+ finger very light tan head that fades very slowly, leaving a good lace. Cloudy deep amber color. Medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Burnt malt nose. Flavor is malty, dark fruit and some yeast. $10.45 for a 750ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Bottle. Sweet fruity aroma. Deep brown body, huge beige head. Flavor is true to style, fruity, somewhat complex, sweet with honey. A bit too sweet for my taste, but nevertheless a tasty and high quality offering.
