Bottle from Pilsnerpete. Muddy, brown body with a very large, tan head. Head is fizzy and beer is clearly a bit overcarbonated. Nose is quite pleasant with dark fruits, light toffee and candi sugar, very light citrus and a touch of floral hops. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with lots of toffee, some dark fruit, a dose of licorice and quite a bit of roast. Actually, this would probably be a very nice beer if not for a bit too much dark malts, which seems to be the biggest difference (and the flaw) in American made Belgian Strongs. Medium body is very soft and carbonation, though present in high levels is gentle. Finish is long, but a bit unpleasant with the aforementioned dark malts coming through quite heavily and a very strong lingering licorice. All-in-all, not a bad effort from a decidedly mediocre brewery.

Pours a five+ finger very light tan head that fades very slowly, leaving a good lace. Cloudy deep amber color. Medium carbonation and medium-heavy bodied. Burnt malt nose. Flavor is malty, dark fruit and some yeast. $10.45 for a 750ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Bottle. Sweet fruity aroma. Deep brown body, huge beige head. Flavor is true to style, fruity, somewhat complex, sweet with honey. A bit too sweet for my taste, but nevertheless a tasty and high quality offering.

750 ml bottle: Aroma is fruity with a nice bubble gum and yeast characteristic to it. A light malt backing and an ever so slight amount of alcohol poking through on the scent. Appearance is very cloudy almost black pour with a medium sized off white almost tan head that lingers for quite a while. Taste is mouth coating, very carbonated, slightly malty, alcohol in there as well, somewhat astringent, yeast, and a Belgian fruit taste. Overall, I liked it. Pretty solid all around in my honest opinion.
