| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 15, 2009 pours amber mahogany with a thin white head. aroma of deep red fruit, lots of cherry, port, raisin, and red vermouth. flavor is bold, lots of rye, fruity, some bubblegum notes, maraschino cherry. touted as similar to a well-made manhattan, i’d say that’s pretty accurate. finish is sweet, with a flavor similar to sucking on a Cherry Luden’s drop without the menthol. slightly fizzy, viscous. i liked it a lot. jcwattsrugger (5528), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

Good aroma, sweet, and tart. little fruity, cherry, some chocolate. got sweeter as it warmed, got some clove like spice. Hazed brownish orange color, no head or lace. Bitter sour flavor, Lite body, thick creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Interesting enough, not one I’d drink a bunch of. Aroma wa the most interesting for me, kind of had a couple phases as it warmed. tart to sweet... JCB (1777), Durham, North Carolina, USA

I’m tempted to mark this beer down for its relatively tasteless name. Sharp ruby pour, perhaps appropriately irradiated looking. Phenols in the nose along with just a trace of the vermouth but far more of what smells like Bananas Foster. They combine in a surprisingly appealing way, but the flavors are more generically sweet and don’t really bring off the quirky combo as much. joebudzjoe (229), Connecticut, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2009 Tap @ Monster B’s. Wonderful dark ruby body with a minimal head. Mild flavors of manischewitz, celery. Definitely tasted the vermouth vibe. Interesting nice original beer. durhambeer (1219), Durham, USA

Nose of dry vermouth, some wood, and lots of rye. Even more rye on the taste. Vanilla and some butterscotch as well. Would be better if a bit more dry and bitter. As it is, the sweetness overwhelms. Still, quite good. Clever name. ditmier (1100), Boise, Idaho, USA

sweet and sour...flavour is similar, whiskey oak, pit fruit, some bready yeast and an underlying fruity sweet/sour thing that I really dug...Really enjoyed it!
