draught at Tylers Apex. Good aroma, sweet, and tart. little fruity, cherry, some chocolate. got sweeter as it warmed, got some clove like spice. Hazed brownish orange color, no head or lace. Bitter sour flavor, Lite body, thick creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Interesting enough, not one I’d drink a bunch of. Aroma wa the most interesting for me, kind of had a couple phases as it warmed. tart to sweet...

On tap at Tyler’s, Durham. I’m tempted to mark this beer down for its relatively tasteless name. Sharp ruby pour, perhaps appropriately irradiated looking. Phenols in the nose along with just a trace of the vermouth but far more of what smells like Bananas Foster. They combine in a surprisingly appealing way, but the flavors are more generically sweet and don’t really bring off the quirky combo as much.

Tap @ Monster B’s. Wonderful dark ruby body with a minimal head. Mild flavors of manischewitz, celery. Definitely tasted the vermouth vibe. Interesting nice original beer.

On tap at Tyler’s in Durham. Pours copper/reddish with big beige head. Nose of dry vermouth, some wood, and lots of rye. Even more rye on the taste. Vanilla and some butterscotch as well. Would be better if a bit more dry and bitter. As it is, the sweetness overwhelms. Still, quite good. Clever name.

2009 Bottle - Thanks goryscheywch! - Pours a hazy brown with a large beige head...aroma is floral herbs and spicy oak, sweet and sour...flavour is similar, whiskey oak, pit fruit, some bready yeast and an underlying fruity sweet/sour thing that I really dug...Really enjoyed it!

On draft at RFD in Chinatown, DC. Pours a hazy orange with a nice head. Taste is rye with very obviously barrel aging, but in Vermouth barrels? Definitely points for something new. This is one of those beers you drink once, loved it, and never want to drink again.

Pours a very dark amber/chestnut brown color with dark golden ruby edges when held to a light source and a frothy 2.5 finger head that slowly fizzles down into a lasting cap and ring. Minimal spots of lacing. Nice autumnal spicy nose with a bit of toasty biscuit malt, rye and subtle hops. The spice character dominates up front with lots of cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg, clove and even a hint of vanilla and pumpkin spice. Subtle chocolate and caramel malt. Sweet malty medium body with hints of autumnal spice notes that linger throughout. Silky and easy to drink with no alcohol warmth. ABV very well masked. Lots of sweet rye malt and estery dark fruit notes, especially raisin, plum, date, fig and grape. Slightly vinous with spicy cinnamon, clove, brown sugar, ginger, vanilla and nutmeg. The pumpkin notes from the aroma are missing. Slightly syrupy and medicinal, being a bit too sweet with a subtle dry finish. Pretty drinkable.

On tap at Barley’s, Asheville. Odd but nice aroma - Rye, of course, but also gingerbread and bourbon. Flavor is similiar to the aroma, but with more rye. Very smooth and flavorful, though.
