Pyrozoid (352), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Has a nice, malty aroma with a strong overtone of molasses and a hint of yeast - not what I expect from such a strong barleywine. Pours a nice coppery amber with a fairly thick, slightly orangy off-white head that dissipates fairly quickly. Rich, slightly, sweet, malty flavor has strong hints of burnt caramel and brown sugar, and almost masks the jagged alcohol bite. Texture is lively, fizzy and sassy, going down the pipes with an attitude. HOPSHUNTER (389), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours a golden amber color. The aroma is complex alcohol, fruit, and hops. Flavor is well balanced sweet malt, fruit and citrus hops. Near perfect carbonation, not overly bitter and warming alcohol. Excellent. popkow (113), New York, New York, USA

Not a fan of barley wine and this brew did not change me over. Bitter and the indegridents fight a battle and the only winner is the high alcohol content. ruggedman (626), Portland, Maine, USA

Pours a light brown, surprisingly light for a barleywine. The aroma is very wine-like, with a hint of fermented grapes, sweet malt, and hints of some citrus hops. Flavor is a lot more dark then the appearance. Sweet, malty, and again wine-like. It tastes like a barleywine, but my eyes still decieve me a bit on this one. There’s a hint of hop in the finish, but the supreme amounts of malt in this brew really dominate! RHeastings (419), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 5, 2009 Updated: May 22, 2009Enjoyed via 12 oz bottle (Vintage 2007). I have enjoyed this example several times over the past six months. Initially, the nose and palate were hoppy, almost too much so. Over time, the hop aroma, flavor, and bitterness have faded dramatically. The latest tasting was one of maltiness over hoppiness, almost to the extent of balance, albeit a full-flavored balance. Overall, a well-crafted American-style Barley Wine.
