If I had a dollar for every time I moved this bottle from the cellar to the fridge then back to the cellar, I would have like $4 more. Body-dark amber with a medium ring of bubble. Nose-very big bourbon/sherry nose, maple, port, alcohol, very nice nose. Taste-light soy, unami, light licorice, maple syrup, woody, beautiful barleywine aftertaste, caramel, unsweet brandy, honey, medium bitter, lots of pecan shells, maple dominates. A solid American/English style hybrid barleywine. This beer is turning very sherry like. In 5 more years this will either be genius or ant poison. As it is now, it is a perfect mixture of beer and sherry flavors. seke (11), Vallentuna, Sweden

Amber-copper, very slight haze. Big nose with some toasted nuts, rather intriguing. Flavor a little subdued for the style, but with nicely balanced bitterness. Low carbonation. A decent barley wine, but nothing to make me go out of my way. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

This one just tastes of sugar, alcohol, and bitter. No supporting malt or other flavors. jwdevalue (158), Neptune, New Jersey, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Courtesy boboski. 2005 vintage consumed on 9/27/07. Semi-cloudy, dark reddish amber body. No head at all, just the tiniest off-white rim. Zero lacing noted. Looks thick and syrupy in the glass. The aroma is of fresh caramel, vanilla, oak, and warming sherry. The flavor is quite malty, with sweet, moderately toasted caramel malts comprising the base. Oaky vanilla quickly emerges on the tongue, as do substantial earthy hops and searing alcohol. Medium-full body that feels lively in the mouth and finishes short and warm. Nice brew, but the alcohol interferes slightly. ucusty (1912), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Sweet and and dried fruity aroma, malty as well. Quite fruity, very sweet and hoppy flavour, very strong hoppy finish with a solid bitterness and warming alcohol. Notes of cane sugarish sweetness. Quite complex sweet malt heavy brew with a very strong floral/fruity hops bouquet. Very nice.
