Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Monster Ale is a classic barley wine, a style of ale originally brewed by the butlers to the English and American aristocracy. It is brewed from three mashes of heirloom British malt and spiced with aromatic American Willamette, Cascade and Fuggle hops.

After four months of aging, it has a magnificent burnished copper color, an aroma redolent of sherry, citrusy hops and fruit, a soft, warming, complex palate, a spiritous finish, and a strength of 10.8%.

It is vivacious when young, but will age gracefully for many years, becoming more complex over time.

Food Matches

Brooklyn Monster Ale is a fine accompaniment to cheeses, ice cream, flourless cakes, crème brulee and good cigars.

Clear copper color, short head. Aroma of caramel malt, hop, some sweet anis. Light sweet taste, malty, anis, bitter, caramel. Although I’m not a big fan of barley wines, this one is quite ok.

Aroma of forets fruits, hops and caraml, winey malts. Hazy, red-brown coloured with a thin, off-white head. Taste is sweet, winey, hoppy, caramel malty with a fruit and anise touch. Quite nice.

12oz bottle from Coopers Seafood house in Scranton PA. Reddish brown color with medium head. I did not like this beer as much as i thought. I really like barley wines but this one lacked the complexity of some of the better ones. But not terrible.

This strong ale has brown reddish looks, very fine crown on top.3+
Characteristically big, powerful dose of high alpha hops. That works so well here, hops and potent alcohol. Additional hints of honey, sweets, marzipan.8-
At this level you expect full body and is that what you get. Juiced up to the max with citric hops up front. They sit well on my palate. Sugars are well in check none of that cloying rushed stuff. Alcohol as well smooth well refined with just slight hint of dryness. Solid example of hop accented potent ale.

2006, Dark copper color with small diminishing tan head and no lacing. Aroma was very nice, fruity and light vinous notes. Smelled like those orange circus peanuts candy. Flavor is sweet and malty, with a little alcohol burn

I picked up a six on my birthday (12$!!!) Overall it has a somewhat sweet, matly with hints of chocolate taste with moderate hints of alcohol. Very filling and overall pretty good though i don’t think i’d pay that price again.

Clear amber body with a small, off-white head. Heavy caramel, vinous and piney nose. Flavor is moderately sweet, lots of toffee, pine and citrus. Full body is slightly astringent with moderate carbonation.
