2007 bottle. I just don’t have the patience to let it sit longer. Pours a copper color with some ruby red in there and a thick off white head which settles to a thin layer. Aroma is rather subtle considering the abv with some tangy fruits, caramel malts and alcohol. It’s sort of like a fruity brandy. The beer is definitely a sipper but it didn’t blow me away. At first taste it is rather mild with tangy fruits and some caramel. The hops show a little late with some spices and a cherry alcoholic flavor. Actually it kind of reminds me of cherry cough medicine but not that strong. Warming with a mild alcohol burn. Considering what this is it is really easy to drink. A good, fun beer to try that surely gets better with age as it does lack character.

Jul 14, 2008 Strong dark ale with lots of alcohol warmth and roasted backnotes. Not my favorite type of beer but better than other barleywines I’ve had.

Jul 10, 2008 12oz bottle from Kingdom Liquors (Tampa, FL). Aroma is hops, grapefruit, dark ripe fruit, brandy, malty sweetness (like caramel). Flavor is sweet malt, hoppy-bitterness, caramel-honey sweetness with notes of hops. Medium to full-bodied with a clean, sweet malt finish. Nice ale.

Jul 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown / amber colour with beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, sherry, hops, caramel. Flavor is much of the same with a dark spicy, port like feel feel to it. Will age well. I hope.

Jul 5, 2008 Bottle this one pours out a nice amber topped with a small head. A nice sweet aroma of caramel and a touch of hops. Tast of the sweet caramel along with some fruit.

does not count  Jul 5, 2008 Are you kidding me? Just opened a bottle of 2000 it had almost no carbonation and smells like a fusel raisin. Looks and tastes like turpentine. Did they make this from a kit at a homebrew shop? The only redeeming quality of this beer is the 11.8% alcohol. I can help but hate on Brooklyn for the crap brews they put out. The Local 1 is decent but the rest of it...
