Very grainy and malty aroma...flavor reminds me of a bad dark lager. Macro flavors...skunk, caramel malt and sorry hops. Man I really didn’t like this. DrHomolka (730), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Aug 31, 2009 Fresh 12oz bottle. Pours a dark orange/light amber with a small tight white head. Aroma is clean bisuity malts, slightly nutty and sweet. Subtle, very subtle in the aroma. Flavor is somewhat watery upfront with a crackery, slightly malty finish. Quite bland in the flavor department. Great Lakes Octoberfest seems hard to beat for me, at least in the American versions. mansquito (838), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Pours an amber color with a very quickly dissipating head. Caramel and fruits are all over the nose. Beer itself is slightly sweet, leaves a little sugar in your mouth when you drink it. Mostly just heavy on the malts without an extraordinary amount of complexity, but I guess Oktoberfests are supposed to be easy to drink and easy to forget about mostly. I don’t know if this beer was quite easy enough to drink. Barrios (858), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 29, 2009 Pours a clear, copper body with a lasting ring of beige head. Smells of caramel and hops. Flavor is much the same. Dry finish. glennmastrange (860), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 28, 2009 Tap. Moderate cookie note for the malt, light herbs and dough for the hops and yeast, with hints of brown sugar and faint dried fruit. Head is creamy, slightly off-white, with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear medium brown. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and lightly to moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery and has a carbonation between soft and lively. A tasty Oktoberfestbier, but a little light on everything. DaSilky1 (2016), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 16, 2009 Draft at flour city brewers fest in rochester, ny. A crystal clear amber color sporting lacey white head. German-style malt notes take center stage nose-wise showcasing hints of toast, and biscuits. Wet mouthfeel overall but clean tasting oktoberfest....you know, malty overall with german-like nazi spice hops...but, as the style dictates overall..its 1 dimensional...toasty, biscuity, and oktoberfest-like. Yay for oktoberfest, not make a style that is supposed to excite people because the oktoberfest style surely can’t excite anyone with half a brain. williamherbert (475), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Crystal clear light orange color. The head promptly disappears but leaves a small film atop the beer. Totally see-through.
The aroma is sweet caramel malts, rich and pleasant. Hint of spice, similar to pumpkin, but not quite the same. Bready malts come through as well. A nice yeast presence.
The taste brings out amber malts with some sweet caramel and yeast...lots of yeast in fact. Estery. Heavy flavor but pleasant. Some lagery notes underneath. Leaves a molasses aftertaste. Bitter malt flavors at the end.
The feel is thick and fizzy (a little bit) and yet easy drinkin’. A nice bittersweet, spicy, malty, yeasty brew. Really nice. Rciesla (3770), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
