Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Oktoberfest was introduced in 2000. It is true to the original German style, full-bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness.

Updating this rating with a beer from...
October 2009 Beer of the Month Club, 11/8/09 (Old Rating was 3.2)

Aroma: The aroma is lightish, but gives off some caramel, bread/grain, light hops, and a slight bit of berries too
Appearance: It pours a clear amber-orange color that just looks like autumn, small head, and some light lace
Flavor: A nice flavorful fest beer, has a good roasted malt flavor with some nice sweet bread characteristics too
Palate: This one has a medium body with a pretty decent mouthfeel, drinks really nicely, medium carbonation
Overall Impression: I hadn’t had this one in a while until I got it in the mail from the Beer of the Month Club (thanks a lot for sending me another beer I can buy locally by the way...) This is a pretty good example of the Oktoberfest style. Sometimes I forget, when I drink these unimaginative fest brews that it actually can be a pretty good style. This one did a good job of reminding me, and for that I’m going to boost my rating a bit, a really solid fall beer that fits the season very well.

(Bottle) Amber colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, dried apricots, hazelnuts, chocolate, honey, brown sugar and cistrussy hints of hops. Malty, slightly toasted taste with bread, caramel, chocolate, crystal malt and a spicy, slightly orangey bitterness in a fairly short finish. Medium body, fairly short. Not very bitter and mainly dry. A solid, but hardly exceptional, Octoberfest beer.

A Mes rate: bottle thanks to Caspar.
An attractive amber gold beer with a decent white head. Fruity malt aroma with a clear slice of rye bread and plenty of tobacco. Fairly standard flavour. Too much caramel and nothing to support it. Nothing bad about it but nothing to get excited about either.

Copper color with a modest beige head. Toasted grains, light berries and herbal to floral hops scents. Very sweet from the start. A dextrose infused concoction. Sugary toasted malt. Some Sweetened cereal qualities. Did I mention this seems a bit on the saccharine side. Not a clean and crisp lager. More a sweet and sappy amber.

Rating #20 in my two week quest to become the #2 rater of Brooklyn beers. Bottled. Pour is golden brown with no head. Aroma is very autumnal, leafy with root vegetables and dry molasses. Kind of like autumn on a 100 degree day though — very muggy. Flavor is similar, with little carbonation and a watery yet thick feeling body. Not very good.
