Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Oktoberfest was introduced in 2000. It is true to the original German style, full-bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness.

orange color with a nice head that disappears quickly. A little lacing. Malty and carmel, a little lighter in flavor than I expected, but it’s nice.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange to brown with a diminished white head. Fruity and dense malty aroma. Sweet malty and slight spiced to breadish. Vague roasted malty. Sweet caramel and slight breadish lingering into the finish.

Pours copper with a fluffy white head with a slight peach colored tint. Smell is slightly metallic with some toasty malt shining through. Ultra-grainy taste but not too much bite. Lighter and smoother than many in this style. I’m not usually a fan of this style, but the flavor in this is subdued, so it isn’t that bad. For those who like this style, it would be lacking.

Pours a clear, dark, reddish amber body with a decently retained, foamy, beige colored head. Sticky, cobweb lacing clings to the glass well. The aroma shows big, sweet, toasty caramel and biscuit notes, followed by cereal grains, floral hops, and some misplaced vegetal elements. Flavors continue this theme, sweet malts and stale cereal grains dominating, with old, mild, floral hops and bready yeast playing catch-up. Medium-plus bodied and well carbonated, the sugary malts get to be overly cloying. This is a not so great example of a not so great style.

Clear amber brown to red color, admirable frothy tan head that sticks around a while and literally sticks to the glass as excellent lace - a sign of the premium ingredients in this beer. Very calm beer that doesn;t display carbonation bubbles. Malty aroma that has a cinnamon smelling quality behind it. A slight aroma of mild hops. Overall, a spicy malt. Hearty and malty taste and yes, some spice is noticed both on the tongue and on the palate which is thick as expected from a full malted dark ale. The taste is balanced from sweet hearty malt to an even finish due to the abundance of a mild hop. Anytime I;m in New York during the Fall season I will choose Brooklyn’s Oktoberfest over the Sam Adams version.

Light coppery colored with medium sized light brown head. Chocolaty hopped aroma with sweet caramel and some slight artificial note, still ok one. Medium bodied. Flavor is also caramelly-chocolaty with slight lemon. Afteraste dries nicely with bitter hops. Well, ok one, at least for it’s style.
