Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Oktoberfest was introduced in 2000. It is true to the original German style, full-bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness.

Poured from the bottle an amber color with some reddish hues. Pour creates a tightly bubbled 1/2" off-white head which slowly fades to a thin coating of foam throughout the glass. No lacing noted. Initial aroma was that of caramel malt, toffee, toasted bread and some floral/spicy hops, but with a distracting raw, musty graininess lurking in the background. Mouthfeel was smooth and creamy, but finished a bit thin late on the palate. Flavor profile was an improvement over the aromas. Moderately light notes of caramel, crystal malts, toffee, baked biscuits and herbs are noted. A touch of a metallic twang is unfotunately also noted. Finish is smooth and on the sweet side with just a hint of hops. An OK rendition of the style, but for a regularly available domestic I’ll stick with SA’s.

12oz single from Total Wine. Musty malt aroma. Amber beer with a nice creamy white head. Bready malt with a mild finishing hop flavor and bitterness. The hops are of a different variety than I would have expected in an O’fest. Almost a British flavor like Fuggles or something similar. I cant pin it down. It tastes OK, just different. Slightly nutty flavor. Flavors stray considerably from the typical Oktoberfest style, but not unpleasantly so.

Sweet cereal aromas, malty. Pours a rich caramel color. Stale cereal flavor, some caramel, not a great marzen/oktoberfest.

Bottle provided via trade with jrob21. Pours clear brown with a small, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat lasting with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (toasted grain, nutty, straw), light hops (herbs), average yeast (dough, earth) with notes of wood and dust. Medium bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity, light bitterness. A tad husky and sweaty near the end.

12 oz. bottle in a willibecker...moderate malt in the aroma...clear solid amber body, with a large white head that settles to thin inconstancy...very little activity in body...creamy gentle feeling to tongue...moderately sweet at start and a pleasing finish....hops are subtle at the end...smooth, comfortable and fall appropriate...an average approximation of the style

Courtesy of Quake1028. Pours a striking clear copper with fluffy tan head and nice lacing. The aroma is sweet malts, pale malts and fruity with a wisp of hops. The fruit is the dominant aroma note consisting mostly of dates and figs. The taste start with a pulse of malts with roasted malts that become pale. A streak of mild bitterness or tartness invades the flavor briefly about midway along with notes of dates, plums and figs mixed with calla flower. It finishes roasty, watery and mildly malty sweet.

12oz bottle. Brown body with gorgeous ruby red highlights. Diminishing light tan head. Spotty lacing. Nose of sweet malts, light hops, biscuit dough, Some light citrus notes as well. Fore is watery malt, some sweet grains, honey, light sour mash, citrus and dough. Light bodied, clinging on the palate. Watery ending, sweet toasty malts and dough. Some caramel sweetness as well. Decent.

Not sure if I’m liking this one so much because it was 3.99 a sixer or if it is really the beer. What a great color. Looks like melted caramel in my glass. I’m getting some bread and maybe prune like aromas. The flavor is of caramel malt and crystal sugar. At first it is a little pungent but the dissipates into a smoother drink. That first impression though is a little rough.
