Commercial Description:
Brooklyn Oktoberfest was introduced in 2000. It is true to the original German style, full-bodied and malty, with a bready aroma and light, brisk hop bitterness.

Dark red in colour, subtle smokiness and hoppiness, complex enough to not be boring, but not complex enough to make me want to return.

Goose Island and Brooklyn Brewery are two of my favorite micro breweries. Tonight I am sampling their Oktoberfest beers for side by side for comparison... The Brooklyn Oktoberfest is a clear, amber color. It has a lively amout of carbonation with a foamy head that quickly bubbles away to leave a thin crown. Aroma is caramel malt and a slight hint of the trademark Brooklyn aromatic hops. Flavor is malty and a little sweet with hints of toasted caramel and floral hops. There is a nice balance between the malt and hops. Average body and mouthfeel. Not the best Oktoberfest available, but this is still a tasty brew from a great brewery! 12 oz bottle, $1.75 from The Party Source.

12 oz bottle. Deep amber colour with a white head. Sweet malty aroma with plenty of deep caramelly munich malt. A touch of brown sugar as well but over it all is a lovely floral noble hop aroma. Flavour shows bready malt complexity over a bit of toastiness with lots of herbal and spicy hop notes. Lingering bready/spicy flavour. A nice marzen after two pretty poor examples.

Amber, short, disappearing head. Sweet, malty aroma. Slight scent of floral hops. Flavor is sweet with notes of caramel. Slight bitter finish. Moderately long. Somewhat thin body, but comfortable mouthfeel. Average and enjoyable.

Bottle from Party Source. Dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt aroma. Medium body. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.

Draught at d.b.a., NYC. Dark ruby amber with a small head. Nose is quite malty, with a hint of smoke, and a nice hint of hops. Nice mouthfeel. Flavour of caramel and roasted malt, some herbal hops, and a nicely balanced finish. Not bad at all.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with biegaman. Poured bright clear ruby-amber with an average off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, slightly ripe apple light smoke and herbal soft hops. Nice sweet caramel malt flavour (hint of diacetyl), light herbal hops, sweet finish with a bit of harshness creeping in. Solid body for an "O", sticky, decent carbonation, enough astringency and bitterness in the medium linger - not bad!

Bottle. Browny, orange colour. Aroma is malty, but a bit subdued, some bready malt and acaramel in the nose. Palate is fizzy/spritzy, with some sweetish malt (bread/caramel). Quite sticky, and the flavour is a little one dimensional. Drinkable though.
