Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

Bottle from j12601, thanks man! Poured a hazy yellow-orange color with a thick, rocky white head that left thick sheets of lacing. Wheaty, fruity aroma (orange, banana) with some light spiciness (clove, light pepper), faint bubble gum, and some light yeast. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some bright fruitiness (orange, soft banana) and some creamy wheat transitions into a dry hoppiness paired with some soft spiciness on the finish (mostly clove). Moderate carbonation and nice mouth feel. This was a really nice, easy drinking beer. This is something I wish was available locally. Thanks again Jay.

Draught at Bishops Arms, Malmô. Hazy golden coloured with a medium sized light yellow head. Fruity aroma of spices, bananas and hops with notes of yeast and grape fruits and burnt notes. Fruity flavour of bananas, yeast, coriander and spices with notes of hops and grass. Yeasty finish of bananas. Too german.

Bottled 500ml. Hopfen Weisse pours completely hazy, yellow with red tones. Middle-large head is very thick and lasting. Even without proper sniffing, perfume-like aromas hovers irresistibly in to your nose. There’s also orange fruitiness, lavender soap and a nice hop presence in the aroma. Even though the flavor is quite unilateral, in its own curious specialty, it is really tasty. Special, mildly sweet, fruity notes of orange, tender, ethereal notes of aroma hops, lavender with clean, citric, grassy hops taking over towards the end of the mouthful. Softly and mildly carbonated, yet quite full-bodied and sticky on the palate. Very interesting, yet really tasty beer by these monster breweries.

750ml corked and caged from New Beer Distributors, NYC. The label and bottle stamping are so beautifully colored and textured I almost held off opening. Almost. Thick but not angry head with large bubbles. Amber white-ish coloring depending on which end of the bottle you’ve reached. Amazing aromas of camomile flowers, honey, paw-paws. Light on the tongue. It’s a happy beer, bubbling with citrus zest, fresh bread, and marigold flowers. Bit of spiciness in the finish, and a surprising mild but noticeable hop presence.

on tap at gingerman. A nice cloudy amer hue with a nice white head. Aroma had a great floral note mixed with some good fruit qualities. Flavor seemed to have great balance between the floral notes and fruit notes. There was a good bread presence through out and finish with a sublte sweetness. I really loved the rich floralnotes throughout this beer.

Bottle. Hazy orange yellow with a white foam. Aromas are floral with wheat and plenty of grapefruit. Spicy with tropical fruit mix and banana. Flavours are sweet wheat and caramel with spiced oranges and banana. Yeasty with lots of tropical fruit. Peppery and hoppy on the finish with warming alcohol. Very good.

Poured to a hazy golden yellow with medium-thick off-white head that lingered well and left decent lacing. Nose was a very strong and noticeable mix of hops, spices (clove) and fruit, especially bananas. Mouthfeel is full and somewhat tingly, and the taste mirrors the nose, with the pleasant addition of the 8.5% alcohol as the beer warmed. This led to a finish that was slightly bitter, long lasting and very pleasant. A very nice surprise from Brooklyn brewery, since I’ve not been impressed by most of their offerings.
