Commercial Description:
This Beer is served on DRAFT and in 750ml BROOKLYN bottles.
In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish.
Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.”

This is a robust brew from the opening pop of the cork. A whoof of hops hits you in the nose as it is opened. The hop force side by sid e with its opposite number out weigh the subtler German borne weizen bock. The Ammarillo and allisade combo form an intense citrussy blend that nearly goes sour on the finish but is bolstered by the malt body into a reasonable finish.

750 ml. Hazy, effervescent amber with a huge creamy head that finally settles down to an inch. Nose is a nice blend of pineapple-banana bubblegum, light wheat, orange-grapefruit and pine resin. Flavor is less sweet than the aroma indicates. Starts with peppery orange-pineapple-grapefruit mixed with honey, then turns to a blend of earthy-spiced peaches and cream of wheat. Finishes with prickly, acidic citrus peel and resin. Wheat, clove and light oak also show up in the long aftertaste. Medium body is creamy smooth and finishes resiny-dry. A nice frosting is left all over the flask.

(750ml Bottle) Purchased at Brewery Creek in November 2008 for $18; shared with Enniskillen. Lightly clouded, golden body with a frothy white head. Nose of Champagne and wild yeast, tart. Mildly more sour than the Schneider and lemon pie. More malted than the other recipe. I certainly like this but not nearly as much as the forementioned. Very good. 8/4/8/3/15

Nice amber with a nice white head. Aroma is a fairly strong piney hop content, light yeast, light banana and alcohol but hops are dominant. Taste is a light fruitness, with alcohol, and nice hoppiness. Warming.

Poured from 750 bottle. Pours golden orange with huge foamy head. Smells of yeast and citrus, lemons and oranges. Taste is orange, banana, wheat, and a bit of hops. Finishes a bit sour, much like sourdough bread. Medium body, very carbonated. Interesting beer, definitely worth a try

[1748-20081002] 1pt9.4floz bottle. Aroma of yeasty sour bread and green leafy nubbins. Murky, light brown orange body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Toasted yeasty grain bread and sweet floral flavour. Medium body is a little tart. Really good, drinkable, interesting!

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours a glowing orange color with an offwhite head. Smell is oranges, citrus and wheat. Taste is very orange like with a bit of a citrus rind bitterness to it more so than a wheat flavor, but the wheat is there in the finish. Clean, refreshing and with a solid bitterness. Not bad.

750ml bottle from Swolf3, thank you Wolf. A bit darker than the Schneider version. A lighter aroma than the the Schneider as well. Much smoother and a little more flavor as well, not nearly as harsh. Very good.
